Monday is here and I wanted to show off a few of our favorite modern and masculine details. I do love overall room shots, but it is all in the detail of each pieces and a perfectly styled vignette that make it all come together. Leather, hide, nail heads are just a few of the details that make a modern masculine space perfect.  Images Via: Melanie Johnson Photography for Studio Ten 25

Thank you LUXE Interiors + Design for featuring our Ritz project in your “15 Rooms With Stunning Vanity Tables“. We loved going bold with this red lacquer vanity in our Ritz Carlton project. Since we were limited on space in this guest room, the vanity doubles as a nightstand and a great place for guest to sit and get ready too.

I know it is a bit cliche to design a modern Downtown loft with sleek lines, minimal accessories and modern fabric. But, I love the overall feel and when looking out of the floor to ceiling windows and seeing the gorgeous Downtown views it becomes special. This Downtown Dallas loft was born to show off it’s gorgeous views from the inside without taking away the wow factor. So, we kept the overall look minimal and modern and loved the final feel of the cliche look that we wanted to achieve!  All Images: Melanie Johnson Photography for Studio Ten 25

Love seeing one of our small dining spaces BEFORE & AFTER featured on House Beautiful Magazine online this week!

The Clients: Newlyweds and first-time homeowners seeking a stylish, modern look.

The Project: A small dining area off of the kitchen.

The Flooring & Walls: We started by replacing the carpet with dark espresso hardwoods, swapping out the dated lighting, and bringing in a fresh color palette of black and white with pops of turquoise and yellow to liven up the space.

The Lighting: The modern drum light fixture and simplistic white silk shades round out the space without taking over visually.

I love the classic black & white combination. It can be a fit for any design style that you want to work with and is the perfect starting point for any accent color that you want to add. I love this vintage bamboo dining table and chairs, the cane back on the dining chairs is the perfect amount of texture too. We were fortunate enough to find this set updated with the glossy white finish, so it was ready to install. The dining chairs however, needed a little seat refresh! We wanted to use a black and white fabric, but stripes we not going to look right with patterns that we were already using in the living room. We decided to go with a black and white trellis pattern to break up the clean lines from the bamboo and to compliment the cane back on the chairs. Sometimes all you need is a little change to make a huge difference.

Looking for tips to help pull your small space together? We are excited to be included in Real Simple ‘s “8 Decorating Mistakes To Avoid In A Studio Apartment”! This loft style home has soaring ceiling and tons of natural light.  Using furniture pieces that fill the space without overpowering it can be a challenge.  The key to making small spaces work, is to create zones that function for the way you live. Choose pieces that can perform a few functions that way you are not having to fill the small space with things that do not work for you. Incorporating mirrors is another great trick to open up the space and give the impression that the room is larger than it really is.

The monthly Home Team feature in the Arts & Life section of The Dallas Morning News is back! And this month, we are discussing our favorite and perfect pairings!

“Some things just go together: picnics and watermelon; America and apple pie; stars and stripes. We asked North Texas style makers about their perfect pairs. They’re not shy about combining everything from patterns and colors to styles and periods. It’s that mix, they say, that keeps a space fresh, unique and personal.”

Abbe Fenimore,

Studio Ten 25, Dallas

Creating a space for a bachelor can have its challenges, and designer Abbe Fenimore should know; she has done her share of them.

“Using a mix of color, bold graphic pattern and refined accents can easily be too much for the guy that wants to keep it simple,” she says.

So instead, she opts to use a color that he likes in a variation of tones to give the space depth while keeping the overall feel masculine.

“Adding a little leather and sleek metal lighting will round out the space and keep the textures more visually interesting,” Fenimore says. Images Via: Melanie Johnson Photography for Studio Ten 25.

This week the Kerrie Kelly  from Kerrie Kelly Design Lab nominated me  for the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award. Kerrie nominated me along with nine other bloggers as a part of her list of ten nominees.  I first met Kerrie when we were style spotters for Cosentino in 2013. Here are the five rules: (1) Thank the blogger who nominated you and link back to her site; (2) Put the award logo on your blog; (3) Answer the ten questions sent to you; (4) Make up ten new questions for your nominees to answer; and (5) Nominate five blogs

What is your all-time favorite book?

Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen is one of my favorites! I love the hardbound cover of this edition, it looks so pretty sitting around! And of course the movie lives up to the book, in my opinion!

If you could have any job, besides the one you have right now, what would it be?

I would work with animals in some capacity. Most likely, it would be for a rescue organization. I was always the child that begged my parents to let me keep the stray dog or lost kitten, I just can’t stand to see an sweet animal suffer and be alone on the streets!  My two girls are my “fur-babies” and I love having them with me in The Studio!

What project are you most proud of?

I have a few in mind, but I will go with one that is more recent. I love this bachelorette’s Uptown Dallas home. It it full of color, texture and bold design decisions that had my heart racing with every decision we made.  I sill still and swoon when I look through the project images of her home! We had a blast pulling the home together and pushed the boundaries of design, I have never felt so free!

What advice would you give someone who is just starting a blog?

Be true to yourself and really share your voice.  Post about things that you are passionate about and your blog will be a success!

What is a new skill you’d like to learn?

Ok, this is random. But, I have always wanted to learn how to play the banjo! I just love the sound it creates and everyone always looks so happy when they are playing it! It gives a song a little extra oomph and makes you stomp your feet!

What is your go-to comfort food?

Spagetti!! I love Trader Joe’s Bolognese Sauce, it is my go-to when I am craving Spagetti!

How would your friends describe you?

Loyal & honest. I love my dear friends and when we are together, there is always laughter!

What does your perfect day look like?

My perfect day depends on the weather. In the winter, I love snuggling up by the fire, eating homemade chili and watching old movies with my husband and puppies.  My perfect summer day includes long lunches and plenty of time outside enjoying the long day!

Where do you most want to travel?

I would love to go to back to Italy and explore the southern part of the country. I spend a few weeks there in college, we traveled the northern part of the country while studying and it was gorgeous!

Now it is time to nominate 5 bloggers and have them answer a few questions too!
