We have been busy with multiple project installations and I love seeing the space come together piece by piece.  Sometimes clients don’t want to purchase brand new pieces for their space because they want something a bit more unique that they can make their own.  We stopped by Dallas’ Again & Again and snagged these two chairs on clearance!!

BEFORE: We we began the search for lobby seating for Lash Maxx’s new location and these two chairs were just what we were looking for. Obviously, they were in serious need of a makeover. Although they were faded, worn and a little beat up the frame was in great condition.

AFTER: Hot pink velvet and a metallic gold finish turned these two chairs in to glitzy glam lobby pieces! They are super comfy and bring in the bold color and over the top chic feel that the space needs.  The installation is about 90% complete and this week we will bring in all of the finishing touches with lighting, art and accessories!

And…just because I LOVE the way this is looking, I thought I would share a sneak peek of the space.  I love the oversized mirror, black & white strip, metallic wallpaper and of course the stunning pink agate lamp!!!

Photographing a project is a ton of work and although we usually end up using the overall rooms shots and vignettes of my favorite places in each room, the details are my favorite. I have worked with Melanie Johnson for about 7 years now and she knows me so well, that photographing my design projects with her is easy breezy!  I’m not saying there isn’t a lot of preparation and organization that goes into photographing a space, but when you work with someone that knows you so well it becomes effortless!  She rocks the detail shots and when finalizing my selections for each shoot, I make sure to snag as many of them as I can.   Of course it doesn’t hurt to have someone like Hilary Walker come by and style each room either.  I have had to face the fact that I just can’t do everything around The Studio. So letting these ladies do what they are good at, makes it much easier to enjoy the process of capturing each project!!!

Here are a few of my favorite details from our latest shoot! Pink velvet, leopard,  metallic tufting and chunky amethyist details were the super stars!!!

Coffee tables are one of my favorite furniture pieces to style. I love that many of my clients request a large ottoman or unique table for their spaces. It makes the room more interesting and if the pieces function, even better. There is nothing worse than a pretty coffee table that doesn’t allow my client to “live” with it.

I wanted to share a few of my favorite styling pieces and tips for coffee table styling that I use in my projects.  In reality, coffee tables don’t always stay perfectly styled. But, if you have the right accessories they are easy to keep tidy and organized while still being stylish. Here are a few of my favorites!

-Books are always a given when I’m styling a coffee table. I love using books that my client already has or books that are about subjects and places that my client loves. It is an easy way to personalize the space and not just throw random books on the table. They are a great place to prop a fun accessory and always bring in a bit of color too.

-Bowls are another fun accessory to add to a coffee table. They can be great catch-all for items that can junk up a coffee table. They can be subtle, colorful or just a pretty piece to help pull the overall look together. I find that my bachelor clients are the biggest fans, they love having places to “keep” things!

-Boxes are another great addition to a coffee table. I tend to use them more on larger coffee tables because they really work with the scale and can also be great storage places for remotes and other knick knacks you don’t always want laying around. These days, decorative boxes come in so many shapes, sizes and finishes. My favorites are the lacquered boxes with agates on top!!

-Trays are the perfect piece to keep your coffee table organized! You can add a stack of books, small bowl and even your remotes on them to keep you coffee table from looking cluttered. They are great on small coffee tables where you still want to be stylish but don’t have a ton of room for accessories. A great tray can really tie the space together too!

Our bold bachelor loft is being featured as “The Room Of The Day” on Houzz and we couldn’t be more excited!  Our client gave us a very short time frame to pull the space together, so inspiration and in stock items were key! Head on over to HOUZZ to see all of the details what it took to furnish the downtown loft in just 3 weeks!  You can also see the entire loft on our HOUZZ page project features!

I have been obsessed with this charming and beautiful farm house located in Madrid, Spain. Designer Luisa Olazabal mixed thick wool carpets with linens and cottons in neutral tones to pull the space together. But the gorgeous jewel tones and fun feathered chandelier AS SCENE in this dining space have us swooning!!  You can find the perfect feathered chandelier for your room in THE SHOP!

I am obsessed with Kelly Wearstler’s Channel wallpaper! I love the random abstract feel and the watercolor feel to the brushstrokes that make up the pattern! We pulled the trigger and decided to go for in our client’s guest room. It’s bold, but that is what we were going for!

When we began to narrow down our choices for the room, I started to search for the wallpaper in other installations. I found this bedroom & this living room image, and knew that the design was perfect for our client!

Here are a few images of the paper as it was being installed! We are in the process of buttoning up the overall design for the too and I can’t wait to share more as the room comes together!

I began working with my clients as they began the final stages of construction on their new home. I loved the sophisticated grey color palette they were going for as well. Grey was our inspiration and as we began to finalize selections, a few subtle colors made their way into the overall look.

The master bedroom is large and we needed to bring in the right scale of furniture to keep the room from feeling too vast.  We turned to Duralee Furniture for this gorgeous linen headboard and designed custom nightstands that provided plenty of storage while framing out the bed properly.

Here is the BEFORE & AFTER. We photographed the home this week, and I can not wait to see the preliminary round of images for editing!! Obviously I am pretty excited and just couldn’t wait to share.

BEFORE: A blank slate and plenty of space to create a sophisticated master bedroom with a simplistic grey color palette.

AFTER: I love that we were able to keep the tonal color palette from being boring and basic. We choose classic textures and mixed them with a few modern pops of color and pattern.

Setting up a comfortable and cozy guest bedroom is always a nice touch for visitors.  HGTV pulled together a few of their favorite guest rooms along with tips on how to make your guests feel at home.  Function, a great set of sheets and a little something special like a “gift” on the pillow all help to pull a great guest room together. You can see more tips and tricks HERE…and don’t forget to check out our bold guest room on slide 10!

While building a solid design foundation is important to designer Abbe Fenimore, she learned her best guest etiquette from her grandmother. “I love leaving small gifts on the bed for each guest,” she says. “It’s a personal touch that lets them know you are glad they are there! Growing up, my grandmother always left something fun for us on our pillows when we visited. I couldn’t wait to run back to the room to see what it was!”

Its hard to get over the Moroccan rug trend when Domino Magazine features pretty rooms like this one! The simple graphic pattern comes in many variations, but I love the classic look of this diamond pattern! You can find this fabulous rug at Shop Ten 25 along with a few other rugs with the Moroccan feel.

One of our latest commercial projects is being prepped for installation and I wanted to share the outdoor cabana! I’m pretty jealous of this huge outdoor space and wish we had room to add one of these in our backyard! A sophisticated grey and white color palette will set the stage for the outdoor kitchen, dining area and cozy setting area for tenants to enjoy the view.

Here is a better look at the inspiration, layout and a 3-D view that really helped us sell the look to our client. Construction starts next week and I promise to share the progress pics!!! In the meantime, you can find the Aruba outdoor set HERE.
