How do you work?
Lately, I’ve noticed many of my friends have jobs that allow them to work from home. And if they run their small business from home, they are always looking for ways to organize the space and to create an atmosphere that feels completely different from the rest of their home. When my husband started his own business last November and moved into an official lease space, I took over! Our third bedroom took a complete 180 and went from a dark ”dude room” with golf trophies and a leather recliner to a bright and glamorous studio for me to be inspired! So come on in and have a look around.
I really can’t help this but I am a fan of draperies that blend with the paint color. I think it is soothing brings warmth to the room without taking the focus away from the overall look. The wall color is Benjamin Moore Stonington Gray, West Elm Velvet drapes and Ikea’s Effektiv storage system kept the room affordable.
I snagged this stunning white lacquer desk from Area 25 on Lovers Lane for $200! I LOVE the brass inlay, it reminds me of something my mother would have had in the 70′s.
The exiting built-in book shelves were dull, so I turned to my new favorite fabric store City Craft Dallas for a dash of color and pattern. I purchased display boards, cut them to fit the backs of the shelves and covered them with the fabric, see past post. Voila! An inexpensive update that makes a big change to room. I love having all of my design magazines out and easy to grab so I just stacked them on the lower shelf. The basket is a great place to keep the fabrics I am inspired by and using on current projects.
The three favorite men in my life…my Dad, my Nephew Braden and of course my fabulous husband! Displaying personal items such as pictures and nick knacks from past travels and my favorite books make the room feel complete.
One of my ceramic peacocks with a white pearl finish that I picked up at an antique mall.
