This time of year we have quite a few house guests that stay with us through the holiday season. Getting the guest room ready so that our guests feel at home is pretty easy to do with a few simple changes. Our clients have become more aware of the importance of making their guest feel at home too. So they often request that we bring in a few easy pieces to help them feel at home when visiting.
This guest room began with basics like white & grey, and then we layered it with bold pillows & art. We then added a chic throw blanket to keep with the tonal grey palette and a linen chair int he corner for guest to sit if needed. I love the casual linen bedding too, the pieces are easy to wash and look great with a little wrinkle. They make the bedding low maintenance, yet still comfortable for visitors.
You can shop the pieces from this gorgeous grey guest room from the links here:
Chilly weather calls for a warm fire! Texas had a few days of chilly weather, so you know we had to take advantage of that and get a fire going in the fireplace. Fireplace screens don’t have to be boring, so if your looking to bring in a little glitz and glamour to your fireplace we have just want you need!!! From gold leafed, mirrored and simplistic iron pieces, your fire will be the most glamorous flame in town!
It snowed in Dallas last night and it was magical! It was also cold, so of course we had a fire going to keep warm. I love how far fireplace accessories have come. There are so many stylish and functional items out there to choose from.
My favorite fireplace accessory is andirons. They are usually used in pairs to lift up the logs above the hearth in order to improve air circulation for better burning. These adorable dog andirons are my absolute favorite and I’m pretty sure Santa is going to be bringing them over this year!! And, we are pretty stoked to see them featured in DHome this month too!
With the chilly temperatures moving into the South and Winter showing up a little early, icy blues are the perfect companion. I love the multiple tones of blue, turquoise and icy blues mixed into my home for the Winter. They pair well with any color palette and bring in a bit of brightness without taking over. Here are a few of our favorite icy blue tones from Shop Ten 25. You can also SHOP BY COLOR and scout from all of our beautiful blue piece.

Last week we were in North Carolina for Fall High Point Market. It’s HUGE and finding the time to see it all is nearly impossible to do in three days. But, we gave it our best shot and today I wanted to share my favorite trends. High Point Market has been called “Fashion week for furniture” and it did not dissapoint this Fall. As a designers, we have access to new introductions 6 months to a year before they are available in the retail market. It is inspiring, exciting and a great way to stay on top of what is new and next in the design world.
The are obvious trends, like the ones you see plaster all over Pinterest and design blogs that fade out over time. And then there are the trends that will continue to make a statement and become classic design elements in the worlds of design.
A WALK IN THE WOODS: Lacquered, distressed, textured and exotic woods continue to make an appearance and you will see the most fabulous pieces make a statement. My favorite, the modern & classic silhouette accented with gold leafing, acrylic and lacquer.
HEAVY METALS: Chrome, polished nickel and stainless steel have a new friend. Brass has been making a comeback and from the looks of it, here to stay. The warm tones and mix of gold leafing and polished finishes are the perfect addition to any space.
FUR AND FEATHERS: Texture was big this Fall at market and you are seeing fur and feathers popping up all over the place. Fur has a new updated look with deep tones and luxurious pieces that are affordable and stylish too. Feathers are making a big appearance in rugs, lighting and art with exquisite detailing and artsy elements.
COLOR OF THE MOMENT: Blue! I have been obsessed with upholstering our living room sofa in a chic cobalt velvet lately. I think my instincts are right on, because this beautiful hue is here to stay but in a super chic way. Acrylic accents, bold furniture pieces and textural hides were all over market. Blue is the new black!
CHAIN LINK: This killer trend is a classic and manufactures are showing plenty of it with their new collections. My favorite pieces are the chain link furniture collection from Bernhardt. I love how they choose a large scale link for their desks, etageres and hardware. Since chain link can be bold and aggressive, using it in small doses of brass will easily bring the updated industrial look to your home.
