Mix It Up

I love to stop by to visit my clients from time to time and seeing how they use the space. Lash Maxx has been one of my favorites because of the over the top glam and glitzy details. Claria is able to rearrange her space to fit the growing needs of her business and I love that the space we created for her, allows her to do that.

This cabinet was something we used in her last space, but now that she is growing and needs the storage it has been added to the back wall. Of course the fabulous brass pulls really made this ikea piece look like a million bucks!

Claria needed a space to sit down and go over paperwork with her clients, so we moved her old desk to the front of the space and relocated the artwork to add a bit of color to the wall.

Scout Design Studio {September’s Featured Designer}

I love how Scout Design Studio here in Dallas invites local designers to design and style a vignette each month. When they asked me to be the featured designer for September, I said “Hell Yes!!! ” Once I selected my paint color for the space ( Benjamin Moore’s Amethyst Sky), I just needed to stop by the store and decide what I wanted to do. Scout’s collection of vintage furniture, artwork, lighting and home accessories is beyond fabulous, so deciding on what direction to go was a tough one.  But, the room had these gorgeous cobra pull on the cabinets, so I knew I needed something over the top and loaded with tons of bold color!

First, I spotted these stunning dining chairs upholstered in a bold pink and purple marbled pattern….I mean…I just…. So did I want to design a dining room?

Then, these raspberry swivel chairs caught my eye…..did I mention that they swivel??? Yes!! And a classic barrel back chair will always catch my eye. Hmmm…maybe I need to find a way to use these?

After wondering around the warehouse and showroom for a bit, I finally spotted something so fabulous that I just had to pull the trigger! This lucite and brass bed is just beyond amazing, so I decided that I was going to create a bedroom!

A deep turquoise rug, pops of pink and Scout’s own in house designed knit pillows and bedding pieces. I fell in love with the llama duvet in pink, it was the perfect layering piece with their new black and white dot duvet with black tassels too!!!

100 Days of Illustrations

One of my favorite designers and illustrators has decided to start a 100 day project, where she creates a gorgeous illustration each day for 100 days. . Mari Robeson is such a fabulous illustrator and I love seeing what she pulls together. From individual pieces to overall room designs, she is pulling out all the stops! I love how she included Shop Ten 25′s Bamboo Sconces in this latest piece. Such a fan!!! You can see all of Mari’s pieces from her #100dayproject HERE!

Vanity, Vanity

Bathroom vanities can quickly become a cluttered mess, especially if you have limited counter space. I love adding trays to a vanity to organize the items that are used more frequently. Perfume bottles, a pretty little container for q-tips or decorative boxes to hold small earrings or bracelets will help to keep the space organized while still being stylish.

Guest bathrooms are great places to display items from your travels, colorful art or even funky containers of soap since you don’t need to have everyday items on the counter top. Here are a few of our project vanities from the past year or so!

Sisterhood Of The World {Blogger Award}

This week the Kerrie Kelly  from Kerrie Kelly Design Lab nominated me  for the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award. Kerrie nominated me along with nine other bloggers as a part of her list of ten nominees.  I first met Kerrie when we were style spotters for Cosentino in 2013. Here are the five rules: (1) Thank the blogger who nominated you and link back to her site; (2) Put the award logo on your blog; (3) Answer the ten questions sent to you; (4) Make up ten new questions for your nominees to answer; and (5) Nominate five blogs

What is your all-time favorite book?

Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen is one of my favorites! I love the hardbound cover of this edition, it looks so pretty sitting around! And of course the movie lives up to the book, in my opinion!

If you could have any job, besides the one you have right now, what would it be?

I would work with animals in some capacity. Most likely, it would be for a rescue organization. I was always the child that begged my parents to let me keep the stray dog or lost kitten, I just can’t stand to see an sweet animal suffer and be alone on the streets!  My two girls are my “fur-babies” and I love having them with me in The Studio!

What project are you most proud of?

I have a few in mind, but I will go with one that is more recent. I love this bachelorette’s Uptown Dallas home. It it full of color, texture and bold design decisions that had my heart racing with every decision we made.  I sill still and swoon when I look through the project images of her home! We had a blast pulling the home together and pushed the boundaries of design, I have never felt so free!

What advice would you give someone who is just starting a blog?

Be true to yourself and really share your voice.  Post about things that you are passionate about and your blog will be a success!

What is a new skill you’d like to learn?

Ok, this is random. But, I have always wanted to learn how to play the banjo! I just love the sound it creates and everyone always looks so happy when they are playing it! It gives a song a little extra oomph and makes you stomp your feet!

What is your go-to comfort food?

Spagetti!! I love Trader Joe’s Bolognese Sauce, it is my go-to when I am craving Spagetti!

How would your friends describe you?

Loyal & honest. I love my dear friends and when we are together, there is always laughter!

What does your perfect day look like?

My perfect day depends on the weather. In the winter, I love snuggling up by the fire, eating homemade chili and watching old movies with my husband and puppies.  My perfect summer day includes long lunches and plenty of time outside enjoying the long day!

Where do you most want to travel?

I would love to go to back to Italy and explore the southern part of the country. I spend a few weeks there in college, we traveled the northern part of the country while studying and it was gorgeous!

Now it is time to nominate 5 bloggers and have them answer a few questions too!
