You work on commission right?
Commissioned art has been my latest obsession. I have been working on a client’s home and we needed pieces that were contemporary and custom in size. We needed to specify the color, movement and texture of the piece for the space and were not finding anything that was perfect for the space. My go to guy? That would be Dallas Contemporary artist Chris Judy. Over the past few months I have been stopping by Chris’ studio to see the progress of these 5’x7′ beauties and the process has been fascinating. I hope to add these lovelies to the Shop very soon!
I left Chris with fabric swatches from the project after discussing the likes and dislikes of contemporary art with my client. These two were created as a pair and will hang above the most amazing Ebanista buffet pieces! Here are the pieces just before Chris puts the final touches on them. They are being photographed this week and will be on their way to their new home soon. I promise to share pictures once they have been framed and installed in the main entry!
Now for the details. Chris’ use of metal & wax layered over the many levels of light and texture are gorgeous. Here is a close up of the metal drops.

I love the Pretty Woman reference! These are gorgeous paintings. I hope you have photos of what they look like hanging in your client’s home to show us later.
