Working with local artist has always been something important to me. I find that sourcing art for client’s homes can be a long process, because art is so objective and personal. Over the past few years, I have been so fortunate to work with a few local Dallas artist as well as artist from all over Texas. The communication is simple, and being able to show my clients pieces that they can see being created or adjusted for their home is a fun process. Today I wanted to share a few pieces from Dallas artist Baron Farha.
His acrylic pieces using Sari Dye are my favorite because you can go with any color palette…and each piece is unique. We asked Baron to tell us a little bit more about the process and of course we wanted to share a few more of his available pieces!
Sari Dye on Acrylic 5’x5′
The dye is super concentrated which gives it the vibrancy in colors. The process starts and finishes naturally as the dye free flows within itself and by the use and help of my hands, I am able to create the depth I want by the use of layering. The coolest part of these pieces are that I never know what they will look like until they are dry and complete. I do a reverse process so I am always “surprised” by the outcome. The Acrylic sheets are protected by white film, so until that film is released and taken off, I never know what to expect. The application is mutli faceted and can be used in so many ways. Color’s can be selected by the client and pricing starts at $1550.00.
“oceans parallel” 4ft x 6ft $2695
“sanctuary” 4ft x 5ft $2150
Painted with an antique Chinese paintbrush
“seasons tides” 4ft x 5ft $2650
Acrylic on canvas – overlay
We are digging gold right now. Gold leafing, brass and even gold painted finishes are grabbing our attention these days! I love how chic this look is and with pops of pink agate, you can’t go wrong. You can pull your own gold and glamorous look with any of the pieces above!

Other than pillows, art has become one of my favorite items to select for our design projects! Art can make a fabulous focal point in a room with bold pattern & color, or it can be a simplistic pieces that pulls the overall look together too. I love the versitility that it can bring to a space and when selecting the right piece for a client, there are so many factors to consider.
I stumbled across Andrea Pramuk on Pinterest a few weeks ago and knew that her pieces were perfect for the dining room of this bachelor pad! Working with local artists is something I love to do and being able to support the Texas art community is important to me as a designer. Andrea is based out of Austin, TX and her work is beyond gorgeous!! She mixes watercolor, oil, alcohol inks and cold wax to create her pieces, I love the depth and softness that she creates!
Scale, color, texture and pattern are the main points to consider when selecting art. Since my projects tend to be layered with bold color and texture, the right piece of art is always the one thing that I obsess over. We recently began work on an Uptown Dallas bachelor pad and our client was immediately drawn to the pieces we selected for his space. Warm tonal colors keep the rooms sophisticated, while the playful watercolor patterns bring in a casual feel to avoid being a bit stuffy! Most of the bachelors that I work with do not gravitate toward a ton of bold color and pattern, so layering the space with the right piece of art is always the best approach.
We needed two large scale pieces to really make an impact in the open dining room, and “Currents” was our favorite by far. Andrea was able to help us create the custom sizes we needed, being able to mirror the pieces made the overall look a bit more interesting while still being clean and tasteful!
Here are a few of my favorite pieces from Andrea’s collection. If you are in the market for something unique and need to work with custom sizing, her selection is huge! From soft blush pinks and spring pastels to bold and deep blues and plums, there is sure to be something that catches your eye!
Design trends for 2014 will be bold, shimmery and beyond chic. I love the mix of metallics in lighting and accessories. I think you will begin to see more metal mixing where gold and silver can coexist together making rooms more visually interesting. I love how the right mix of metallics compliment any aesthetic and keep spaces from falling flat. Whether you lean towards minimal metallic accents or prefer to be bold with your metals, there are plenty of metallics to choose from in 2014. Here are a few of our favorites! And keep an eye out for more of our favorite design trends in 2014 over the next few weeks!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas has always been my favorite holiday, I love the time spent with my family and hearing my Grandma float around the house singing her favorite carols. Every family has their traditions, special decorations and ways they like to celebrate Christmas and today I thought I would share a few of them!
While visiting clients over the past week, I have been in awe of their gorgeous Christmas trees, decorations and special touches that make their home super chic for the season! So today I am sharing a few of my favorite space, I love seeing the nontraditional color palettes they have chosen. They are chic yet still give you the warm fuzzies when hanging out.
I love the mix of purples, silver and white at Lash Maxx! The way she keeps her color palette cohesive with her space looks super chic and I seeing the new pieces that she adds each year to her decorations.
A touch of orange and turquoise mixed with a flocked Christmas tree create a chic Christmas look in my client’s formal living room! I may have to place our tree in our front window next year, I love seeing a gorgeous tree sparkling through a window! With large orange bulbs, monarch butterflies, gold graphic pieces and turquoise touches this tree is one of my favorites! The mantel in the room is dressed with real evergreen garland and given a chic look with oversize pinecones, gold leafed antlers and topped off with gemstones and agates!!
This eclectic yet chic living space is one of my favorites. I love the playful and modern color palette and geometric baubles in the garland and around the room. The bottle brush trees and vintage deer collection on the mantle keep the look playful and I’m sure a favorite of the kids!.
Now that Pantone has named Radiant Orchid as 2014’s color of the year, we are seeing the gorgeous color pop up everywhere! This past year, we designed a girly glam lash extension studio here in Dallas, and I LOVE that we used a gorgeous lavender color throughout the space! The Glam Pad recently featured the project on her blog and so I thought it would be fun to share the feature as well as a few of our favorite projects that pop with purple!!
Today I wanted to show off a few more of my favorite trends that I spotted at High Point Market. Last week I showed off a few of my favorite hide pieces as well as a little animal magnetism. I love how manufactures are consitantly coming up with ways to take classic lines, shapes and functional pieces that have always been available, yet make them new and fresh.
Lacquer was everywhere at market this fall, yet it didn’t come across as cheap and cheesy like it can easily do. Sleek finishes in bold colors and sophisticated styles caught my eye. Lacquer brightens up a pieces and it brings in just the right amount of reflectivity to any room.
1. Anna Green Lacquer Bar Cart 2.Foley Lacquered Lamp 3. Estelle Orange Lacquered Tray 4. Gold Lacquer Lago Chair
Color trends have been the big deal, especially since Pantone names a color of the year keeping the design world on its toes. Purple, teal and emerald green were big color players at market this year but purple was by far my favorite. I love how it varied from soft and chic lavenders to rich warm plums. Purple looks great in all tones and even as a monochromatic look but I love it most in small doses.
1. Bella Vetro Purple Chandelier 2. Art Print 3. Voyage Plum Rug 4. Chair 5. Indica Lavender Pillow 6. Kaori Pillow
