Sitting Pretty
I love seeing the progress in a room that really wasn’t that bad to start with. My client had most of her basic pieces but the layout of the room and scale of the pieces were off in this space. I guess I wouldn’t call this a true Before & After, but is is a great Before, during and almost after so I thought it was time to show it off!
BEFORE: I love the light in this front sitting room and the fact that you can see most of the room when you enter through the front door. The sofa was just way too big for this space and the fabulous bold green accent chairs look so tiny and out of place against it. It was time to find a sofa that works with the scale of the room, find a new home for the green chairs (they made perfect head chairs in the dining room…more on that in a few weeks) and soften all of the windows in the room.
ALMOST AFTER: We had this gorgeous navy velvet sofa custom made to fit the room and of course added tons of nailhead detailing in a hexagon pattern!! HUGE difference in the space. At first, we placed the back of the sofa towards the font of the room to show off the nailhead detail, but it just wasn’t working. We updated our client’s cane back chairs with a gold finish and shimmery orange seat cushions and moved them in to compliment the sofa. I love the chevron zebra sheer draperies and how they have soften the windows without cutting off any of the natural light.
AFTER AGAIN: But, this layout just wasn’t working. The sofa was a bit bulky when you came in from the font door even though showing off the pretty details was what we were going for. So, it was time for a little switch up and the sofa found a new home on the opposite end of the room. The seating arrangement is arranged around the fireplace and that gorgeous sofa is still front and center as you walk in. We still have a few finishing touches to add to the room (gold leafed bamboo drapery rods anyone? ) and I promise to share them once we have every thing in place!!
