Seventeen Magazine {Sorority Before & After}
The Alpha Delta Pi Sorority House at The University of North Texas was in serious need of an update. And, of course we are super excited to see the transformation featured on Seventeen.Com this week!!
When the sorority contacted me to help with their remodel, I knew this was a project that I had to consider. After doing a walk through and going through the to-do list, I knew it was going to be a fit. Sorority house are typically designed with a more traditional color palette and lots dark heavy furniture to accommodate all of the members. My sorority house in college was the same, a mix of random pieces that didn’t fit the space properly. This house was no different when we started the design plan and the oversized and worn out furniture really needed an updated.

FORMAL DINING ROOM / KITCHEN BEFORE
The kitchen was the biggest update in the house. We removed the wall that separated the formal dining room and the kitchen to allow for larger groups and events. We decided to incorporate a large center island with built in storage and plenty of seating for them to entertain as well as gather for meals during the day. New pantry lockers provide each of the girls that live in the house a place to store groceries. Updated appliances, new built in china cabinets and sleek cornice boards were also elements that helped to pull the large space together.

MAIN LOUNGE AREA BEFORE
In the main lounge area, we needed to incorporate plenty of seating in the main lounge area as well as storage and pieces that could be easily moved around to accommodate different groups. We started with a completely new floor plan for the room by relocating the existing TV from the corner to the side wall. This allowed us to open up the room and bring in a seating arrangement that allowed the ladies to conduct meetings, hang out or host events. Accent chairs, x benches and an ottoman coffee table brings in plenty of extra seating and allows for great conversation with larger groups. All of the finishes and fabrics are durable and with the azure blue front and center, the girls can have pride in their sorority with out going overboard on the sorority’s symbols and colors.
