My Favorite Hoots
Everyone has their obsessions right? I obsess over starburst anything, glitzy accessories and grey cardigans. I have never really had an animal obsession…well…I love my dogs but figurines, pillows and images of Brittany Spaniels and German Shorthaired Pointers isn’t really my thing.
So, I’m not saying I’m obsessed with owls, but they are starting to catch my eye. There is something about the way they stare at you with such poise, stealth and domination that makes them fascinating and somewhat majestic. I always think of Jonathan Adler’s owl umbrella stand. It is crisp, modern and looks great next to any console table.
Dallas sculpture artist Brad Oldham was my neighbor at the Chi Omega Christmas Market a few weeks ago and I loved getting to know more about his inspiration and fascination with these creatures. Their faces, size and shapes come alive in his sculptures…they are a must see if you are a collector. I did not leave with one of his pieces, but I was lucky enough to snag one of his HOOT cuff bracelets from the show! So I guess I have Brad to thank for my new fixation on owls. Here are a few of my favorite pieces, pieces that I would definitely include in one of my design projects or just wear! Isn’t that sweater fab?!
