I have been in the process of updating the overall look Studio and I think I am going to go with a cotton flat weave or a Dhurrie rug. Dhurrie rugs are flat woven, meaning that they have no pile. They can be made from wool, cotton or synthetic materials and can be hand woven or machine made. These rugs are usually reversible. The pattern on the front can be viewed clearly from both sides. Authentic Dhurries are made in India and are made of wool or cotton and come in a variety of sizes. West Elm has some of the most fabulous Dhurries and I love all of the graphics!
You can find flat weave rugs all over the place but my favorites are from The Rug Company and Madeline Weinrib. I love that these vendors offer a lower price point while still bringing the bold designs, colors and quality they are known for. We are fortunate to have a West Elm and The Rug Company Showrooms here in Dallas. I stopped by The Rug Company last week as they were getting in their new Dhurries….
I am in love with the HUGE selecting that Madeline Weinrib has in her cotton collection. I have tried to use her rugs multiple times but didn’t have the 18 weeks to wait for one of them. They are gorgeous!!
