Mid Century Dining {Before & After}
I have been showing progress shots of this project for a few months now and it is finally finished!! The dining room was one of the biggest transformations in the home so I thought it would make a great BEFORE & AFTER.
BEFORE: Although I love the large vaulted ceiling in this room, the large scale dining furniture was just a bit much for the space. The dining set was part of my client’s family and they did their best to make it fit into their home by upholstering the seats with a cowhide and adding a fun chandelier, but it just wasn’t working for them. The “baby boy” blue paint color was off too and the yellowish tone of the original hardwoods was not a favorite of my client’s either.
AFTER: With super chic grey stain on the floors, an updated wall color and a furniture overhaul…this dining room became the Mid Century chic room that my client was after. The oval tulip table has a custom walnut top that brings in more warmth than the marble top that is came with and the classic Mid Century shaped chairs were upholstered in a GORGEOUS metallic linen to bring in the chic we were after. I’m pretty sure the dining chairs are my favorite pieces in the new dining room!!A bright white console compliments the white silk drapes and really helps to brighting up that dark corner. We reused the client’s existing chandelier and large mirror since they were perfect for the new look.
With a few simple additions like the geometric art, deep teal lamps (similar) and accessories this dining room is prefect for entertaining and sure does catch your eye as soon as you walk through the front door!!
