Dallas Design Style
I received an email last week from a contributor at HOUZZ asking me about Dallas design style.

She wanted to know:
- Something that makes a design distinctly Dallas
- A trend that is on the rise in Dallas
- A misconception about design in Dallas
I had to laugh because all I could think of is what everyone outside of Texas thinks our houses look like in Dallas. It’s like any other city really, you have your regional influences and wonderful mix of design aesthetics. I promise…what you see on those Dallas based reality shows is not reality. It’s made for T.V. and they can give those who watch a bad impression at times. So here is what I had to say….
“Dallas is known for having the over-the-top design aesthetic. Lots of ‘bling’ and unfortunately, most people think Dallas design can be gaudy,” says Abbe Fenimore of Studio Ten 25. “I think many people would be surprised to know that Dallas also has a fabulous side that can be fresh, well styled and approachable. With design-forward publications like DHomeand Modern Luxury, there is something for everyone here in Dallas.”
What do you think Dallas design is like? I would love to know what people think the Dallas design style is!

I live in Dallas, and I kinda agree…MOST people in Dallas have a dark and blingy style. There are obviously some exceptions from this, but overall I have to agree. : ( When you do find an exception, I would say it is normally done very well.
