Bringing In Chic
Hello everyone! I’m Abbe Fenimore from Studio Ten 25 Interiors in Dallas, TX and I’m excited to bring a little Chic to the Design Guide Blog. I am a lover of all things chic and glamorous in design and if my husband didn’t put his foot down, our home would be girly glam all the way. Mirrored pieces, luxurious fabrics and graphic patterns are a few of my “go to” elements when designing my client’s spaces. My obsession with fabulous furniture and accessories eventually turned into the opening of my online boutique, Shop Ten 25. The shop is full of modern, eclectic and chic home furnishings, fabulous pillows and great accessories.

The word “chic” is used quite a bit in the design industry, some people even say the word has been used too much. I personally love using the word because “chic” is a feeling that I like to bring into my projects. Chic works well as an addition to other design styles like Rustic Chic, Bohemian Chic or Shabby Chic and gives a room that extra oomph. There is no set formula for bringing chic into your space but there are a few key design elements that make a room chic.
Luxurious Drapes:
I love bold draperies in luxurious fabrics. Whether you puddle them for a dramatic look or keep them tailored, using rich fabrics like silk or velvet immediately bring chic to the room. Try branching out with a bold color and using pillows and accessories to complete the look.

Metal & Mirrors:
When a room sparkles and glows you can’t help but feel inspired to dress up and throw a glamorous cocktail party in it. Mirrored furniture and accents kick the chic look into high gear and reflect the light around the room. Using metal side tables & light fixtures can also make a room feel instantly chic, while small touches like metallic frames and accessories tie it all together.

Wallpaper:
I think by now, we all know that wallpaper has made its comeback and is a hands down favorite design element for any chic room. Although wallpaper can blow the budget, there are quite a few great sites that provide chic options at a fraction of the price. If you can’t afford to cover your entire room or just don’t think you could be that bold, try using it on an accent wall or framing pieces to use as artwork.

Lacquer:
Lacquered furniture and accessories are another way to bring that chic feel to any room. Large or small, lacquered pieces can be simple or bold and always make a statement. If mirrored furniture or metal accents are not on your favorites list, consider lacquered furniture, accessories or even walls as options.
