A Little Business Tip

First of all, a good 90% of what you do as a designer has to be about business. This is an incredibly important lesson that I’ve learned along the way since opening Studio Ten 25 back in 2007. Don’t get me wrong, I still have plenty of fun selecting fabrics, drawing floor plans, and shopping with clients, but at the end of the day you still have to manage it all! Creating invoices, taking payments, giving payments, managing purchase orders, and on and on and on. My daily schedule is also such that I don’t get to spend a lot of time in my office. You’re more likely to find me on the run and in the design district than at home and in front of my computer. It’s for this very reason that I chose to use Take Credit Cards’ “Phone Swipe” device. It plugs into your smartphone or tablet and takes payments on the go… just my style!

Clients can feel safe and at ease knowing that their information is completely secure and encrypted. If that cute little iPhone or iPad gets snagged, no one’s information is leaked. That’s HUGE!! This feature was especially important for me during the Chi Omega Market last Fall. I set-up a booth for the event and had a surprising number of people shop my booth throughout the course of the market. So many people coming and going. But everything went smoothly and all payments were made easily thanks to Take Credit Cards! Hurray!!
Oh, and did I mention that it’s a flat rate fee? Major plus!
