    Designer Picks

    Over the past few years, I have had the opportunity to work with and meet so many wonderful people from many areas of  the design industry. I love sitting down with other designers, vendors and creative types to talk about the day in and day out challenges, tools that really work for our businesses and sharing products that we each love. I sometimes feel like I sit on an island alone since Studio Ten 25 is a small design firm, so having those relationships keep me motivated and positive.  And adding positive people to my life is always at the top of my list.

    I am introducing a new element to Shop Ten 25, our online boutique. We are in the final stages of updating a few things on The Shop and when I started the process, I knew that I wanted to include a few of my favorite people that have become a wonderful part of my life and business. I was once told that “connecting the dots” in life and business will lead me to great experiences and even greater opportunity. When you reach other to others, you quickly realize that there is no room for competition and that it’s all about the relationships and friendships that come from working with others.

    “DESIGNER PICKS” will be the latest addition to Shop Ten 25 when we go live with our updates later this month. So in the meantime, I wanted to introduce the first four designers to curate a collection at Shop Ten 25! We have asked each of them to select a handful of pieces that they love and reflect their personal design style!  As we move into summer, we plan to add a few more designers. AND, of course if you have someone in mind that would be a fit we would love to hear about them!!  Stay tuned, we promise to share more details down the road!

    Crisp White Bedding

    We love a good GET  THE LOOK and when Crane & Canopy asked us to pull one of our signature looks together using their bedding, we were all over it!!! I love color, texture and super chic pieces all mixed together. I always have an idea of the design direction I want to take after meeting with a client, but pulling it all together is a process and takes an open mind.

    Crisp white bedding is one of my favorite elements to incorporate when designing a bedroom.  And if you don’t mind your pets or children crawling all over the bedding, then I say go for it. There are tons of options out there, but the pieces from Crane  & Canopy are affordable and I love how they give you a few textural options too!  The solids are my favorite and I think it would be fun to mix in a few of their graphic pieces if going solid isn’t your thing.

    White bedding is a great jumping off point because it works with any color scheme really. I wanted this GET THE LOOK to be bold, yet sophisticated and something that you could actually pull together in your own home. I started with the Mirabel Duvet Cover and brought in a gorgeous lavender velvet headboard!  So, pop on over to Crane & Canopy’s blog to see all of the pieces as well as links to get your hands on the fun pieces we pulled for the look!!!

    Buying A Rug {Expert Tips}

    When the Vivant asked me to share a few tips on selecting the right rug for your space, I was really excited to chime in!

    If you have ever undertaken decorating a room, you have likely asked yourself: “What size rug should I buy?” Well, I focused on the top questions that we receive from our clients at Studio Ten 25 and hopefully you find a few tips that will help you along the way!

    “Choosing the right rug size for your space can be challenging because the task alone brings up so many questions. What size is the right size for my room? Will this pattern be too much or just right? Do I really want to spend this much on a rug or go with a smaller size to save money?”

    See the entire article HERE on The Vivant’s Website!

    Market Place {Pure Love, Pure Luxury}

    pyar and co

    My love for the gorgeous Pyar & Co pillows isn’t much of a secret. I am obsessed with the  amount of detail, design and love that goes into making each pillow. And after I met the beyond talented Paula Queen who is the owner and designer of the line, I knew that was the beginning of a friendship and of course a strong working relationship.

    I have carried these glitzy fluffy pillows in The Shop since last fall and am looking forward to expanding the offering after the new collection hits the streets.   Pyar & Co’s blog recently launched the first of it’s MARKET PLACE columns and I am so honored to be included it it!  They pulled together a great round-up of pieces from Shop Ten 25 and asked me to share a little bit of design advice too! Think Luxe on a budget. Pop on over and take a look….all of the pink will make you smile!

    Holiday Gift Guide {For Her}

    I have been incredibly blessed to work with some amazing design clients through Studio Ten 25!! Over the years, I’ve met some truly unique individuals and gained a few friends along the way as well. One such client turned friend is Kristin Skilling, a seriously talented Dallas wardrobe stylist. I can attest first-hand to the power of her personal styling services!! This girl is gooood. She helped me transform my closet and see my wardrobe in a completely new light! In return, I’ve been designing her new home and cannot wait to share it with the rest of you. (more on that later)
    Throughout the process of designing Kristin’s space and styling my wardrobe, it’s fair to say that we’ve gotten pretty good at shopping together. So, it only seemed appropriate to put our fashion/design heads together and collaborate on a fun series of holiday gift guides! In The Houzz

    I am such a HUGE fan of the design site HOUZZ! I could spend hours looking through gorgeous images and catching up on their informative articles.  I also have my own STUDIO TEN25 page on Houzz where you can see my latest projects and learn more about what I love.

    I often get emails from readers asking “what is it really?” And “What should I look for on there? ”   I also refer many of my design clients to the site so that they can find the inspiration for their project, it gives us a great way to communicate visually!   So, today I am so excited to welcome Becky from Houzz on the blog! Becky is going to break it all down for you and give you the tips, tricks and scoop on how to use Houzz. BEWARE, you may become addicted!!   ENJOY!!!!

    Hello everyone! My name is Becky and I’m a contributor at Houzz, a home design site focused on helping design professionals and homeowners manage the remodeling and decorating process. Thanks so much to Abbe
    for having me!

    Abbe asked me to talk about something I happen to know a lot about: how to use Houzz when you’re planning a renovation, looking for inspiration, trying to find an architect, designer or contractor, or simply have a design dilemma and want some community input. Here are three easy ways to search the hundreds of thousands of photos in our database to find new ideas, advice and the right professional for your job.

    Willow Glen Residence modern powder room

    Let’s start with a simple search. Let’s say you want to gut your old 1960s bathroom and replace it with a fresh and unique design. All you need to do is click on “Photos” at the top. Next, look to the left side and click on “Eclectic” under “Filter by Style” and “Bathrooms” under “Filter by Space.” Thousands of pictures of eclectic bathrooms will come up. If you’re looking for local design, you can filter even further by choosing your metro area under “Filter by Metro.” When you see work you like, you can click on the designer’s name to find their contact information.

    As you’re browsing through the images yielded by your search, click on “Add to Ideabook” on any of the pictures you like, and create a “Bathroom Renovation Ideas” ideabook. You can create as many ideabooks as you like and share them with the professionals you hire or simply keep them for your own inspiration. Likewise, professionals can create Ideabooks to show clients their ideas. In addition, we have a products section full of hundreds of thousands of the best home products that you can peruse and add to your ideabooks the same way.

    Chic Living eclectic living room

    You can also filter your results by simply searching styles, furniture, colors, lighting and just about anything you can think of in the search box at the top. For example, a search for “zebra rug” brought up thousands of images for me to look through, including this beautiful living room that Abbe designed.

    In addition to searching the photo database, you can also search for articles written by experts on thousands of topics, from D.I.Y. instructions on building a firepit to advice from an architect on how to keep your remodeling project on budget.

    Kitchen traditional kitchen

    Another way to find designers and other pros is to go to the top of the page and click on “Professionals.” Next, look to the left side of the page, choose your city and then choose the type of professional you are seeking. For example, a quick search for Kitchen and Bath Designers in Atlanta turned up 638 of them. You can browse through their portfolios, link to their websites and read recommendations that their clients have left.

    Finally, if you have any remodeling questions of your own, post them on the Houzz Discussions Board and Houzz community members will chime in with opinions about how to solve your problem. Once you’re over on the boards, you’ll likely find yourself chiming in on others’ design questions as well.

    Find more inspiration from interior designers and more design professionals at Houzz.
