Before & After {Master Bedroom}

This master bedroom was the perfect balance of sophistication and edgy chic.  Our clients wanted a master bedroom that would be a retreat at the end of a long busy day.  We started by having the room painted Benjamin Moore’s Grey Owl to coordinate with the Clarke & Clarke’s Cameo wallpaper that we selected.  The combination of new paint and wallpaper on the back wall instantly updated the space and gave us the perfect starting point for the room’s design.

BEFORE: Nothing but the bed here folks. It was pretty pitiful, and they eventually used an empty printer box as a nightstand. Poor things, they really needed a place to relax and of course to at least place a lamp! Builder standard peachy walls were the worst part of the room. We loved the existing bed they had, so we decided to change the walls, add a subtle metallic wallpaper to the back wall and rock out the grey and aubergine color palette.

AFTER:  I love how tailored the headboard looks now. The white lacquer nightstands, all white bedding and white Mongolian fur bench gave the room a bright and updated feel. Since we didn’t want to go overboard with the aubergine accent color, we kept it simple with just a few pieces. The glass lamps were the perfect scale for the night stands and mixed well with the textural pattern of the mirrors. A few glitz pillows and a luxurious throw blanket were the finishing touches.

Little Hipster’s Bench

We have been working on a super cool children’s boutique here in Dallas and I can’t wait to show off more details. Our client had this fabulous pink velvet bench that worked perfectly in another space. But, it also was the perfect piece for the new dressing room at Little Hipsters Boutique!! So, we found a fun bold tropical print and had the bench upholstered to work with the new space.

Here are the BEFORE & AFTER pictures of the bench. I love the large scale Jardin print and bold color palette, it is going to be fab in the boutique’s dressing room!

High Rise Living {Before & After}

We started working on this high rise bachelor pad this past spring and it was in serious need of an update. First, we needed furniture that actually functioned for him.  We needed the space to set the tone for the blue & grey color palette that we were using.  We recently photographed this space and I can not wait to show it off!

BEFORE: The entry felt stark and the wonderful high ceilings were not being played up.  Everything felt short and didn’t really give off a fun bachelor pad vibe.

AFTER: A custom navy lacquered parsons console was the first piece we selected and everything just came together from there. Killer acrylic lamps with a blue accent, bold gold mirror and an bench to soften the space really helped to create a space that works here. The mirror draws you eye up and plays off of the high ceilings while bringing in some much needed texture.

He needed a place to crash while watching T.V. that allowed him to get the most out of the awkward space. So instead of trying to place rectangular pieces in this round room, we worked with the curves of the space and selected a sectional with a curved center!

BEFORE: This room has amazing views of the Dallas Design Center as well as North Dallas so we needed to completely change the configuration to show off that view! The dark and muddy color palette was also doing nothing for the space. It felt dark and completely wrong for our bachelor.

AFTER: Open, airy and completely masculine!  Neutral and durable fabric gave us the start we needed to bring in the blue, grey and brown accents that carry through the entire space. Now you can actually enjoy sitting in this space while taking in the view.

Hot Pink {Before & After}

We have been busy with multiple project installations and I love seeing the space come together piece by piece.  Sometimes clients don’t want to purchase brand new pieces for their space because they want something a bit more unique that they can make their own.  We stopped by Dallas’ Again & Again and snagged these two chairs on clearance!!

BEFORE: We we began the search for lobby seating for Lash Maxx’s new location and these two chairs were just what we were looking for. Obviously, they were in serious need of a makeover. Although they were faded, worn and a little beat up the frame was in great condition.

AFTER: Hot pink velvet and a metallic gold finish turned these two chairs in to glitzy glam lobby pieces! They are super comfy and bring in the bold color and over the top chic feel that the space needs.  The installation is about 90% complete and this week we will bring in all of the finishing touches with lighting, art and accessories!

And…just because I LOVE the way this is looking, I thought I would share a sneak peek of the space.  I love the oversized mirror, black & white strip, metallic wallpaper and of course the stunning pink agate lamp!!!

Tonal Sophistication {Before & After}

I began working with my clients as they began the final stages of construction on their new home. I loved the sophisticated grey color palette they were going for as well. Grey was our inspiration and as we began to finalize selections, a few subtle colors made their way into the overall look.

The master bedroom is large and we needed to bring in the right scale of furniture to keep the room from feeling too vast.  We turned to Duralee Furniture for this gorgeous linen headboard and designed custom nightstands that provided plenty of storage while framing out the bed properly.

Here is the BEFORE & AFTER. We photographed the home this week, and I can not wait to see the preliminary round of images for editing!! Obviously I am pretty excited and just couldn’t wait to share.

BEFORE: A blank slate and plenty of space to create a sophisticated master bedroom with a simplistic grey color palette.

AFTER: I love that we were able to keep the tonal color palette from being boring and basic. We choose classic textures and mixed them with a few modern pops of color and pattern.

Modern Fireplace {Before & After}

For some reason this gorgeous home we worked on for our newlywed clients is getting major love this week! This chic living room has been one of my favorites and when I visited the home not to long ago, everything is still in place and just as fabulous as it was on install day!

First, High Fashion Home  gave us lots of love when they shared part of the living room. Bold color and pattern sure do pull this space together and it makes me happy when one of our projects inspires someone! Now, you can see a great before and after of the living room’s fireplace on HouseBeautiful.Com and Elledecor.Com . You can see the dramatic change on both sites and of course we have to show off a few of the gorgeous images from our installation too!

How-To {Go Glam}

We love going all out glam around here so it was only fitting that we create a fun “how-to” video to show you how!

Always start with the basics and build on them with pattern, color and texture.  We layered the custom blush silk velvet bed with crisp white  Soprano bedding from Peacock Alley and began to pull the room together from there.  Large scale mirrored night stands  were dressed with these gorgeous amethyst lamps and pops of pink and lavender to tie the room together.  My favorite part of the room?  Of course the stunning velvet black and white striped custom love seat to anchor the bed! We kept the pillows to a minimum by using a simple purple textural pattern and a tiny bit of metallic on the lumbar pillow and main bed pillows.

A little tip about going bold: Select the one or two pieces that make a statement in the room. We used the headboard and love seat here. Add art, pillows and accessories to pull the color into the space. Remember that not everything you bring into the room has to be so dramatic. We kept the bedding, draperies and artwork simple and subtle to compliment the color in the room.

We also love sharing a good BEFORE and AFTER. Here is the room before we began to bring in the main pieces…

And AFTER. Using black and white to anchor the room, all of the bold colors and fabric are balanced and can now be the focal point of the room.

Loving Leopard {Before & After}

A few weeks ago I shared a few pics of these gorgeous barrel back chairs after their transformation.  My client knew that she wanted barrel back chairs for her living room but we just couldn’t find the right pieces. Finally, Scout Design Studio came to the rescue and helped us pull these lovely leopard pieces together!

BEFORE: Just a simple barrel back chair in a dingy brown velvet fabric screaming for an update. They were already on a swivel base but needed to be just a bit higher to work with the scale of the other pieces in the room.

AFTER: Scout worked their magic and lifted the chairs by adding a high gloss black base, fortunately we were able to keep the swivel feature! This leopard velvet from Duralee Fabrics had been the fabric selection for the chairs from day one and it looks perfect on the chairs! Bold? Yes! But they are the perfect addition to this lofty living space!  We are still installing pieces to pull this space together and hope to have it finalized soon, I can’t wait to share!!

A Butterfly Transformation

We recently installed the first phase of a client’s main living and dining area and I am so excited about the way it is coming together! We snagged a few gorgeous vintages pieces from Scout Design Studio here in Dallas that helped us create the urban chic feel we are going for. One of my favorite additions to the dining area is the dining bench. I love mixing in a bench in an open space like this. It keeps the space open and allows for guests to socialize easily when hosting a party.

We selected this Stella bench with nickel bamboo legs and gave it a simple update with a fun fabric! The Christian Lacroix Butterfly Parade fabric was hands down, the winner when looking at fabric options. I love the way  it looks with the cobalt velvet chairs and chunky grapevine table base too!
