    A Chair With Contrast {Before & After}

    Mark your calendars! Dwell with Dignity Thrift Studio preview party is 4/18 at the Dallas Design District. Come support a great cause and shop for treasures from some of the best designers in Dallas and special sponsor One Kings Lane.

    Tickets at thriftstudio.com.

    I am so honored to have been asked to design a vignette this year for the second time! My space is huge (30″ x 15″) and I had a lot of ground to cover. The before and after pieces have been my favorite part of the design. Taking something that looks absolutely pitiful and seeing it transformed into a gorgeous piece that someone can bring home always makes me smile.

    Here is a little bit more of a sneak peek of the overall space from our VINE app showing details that help pull it together. I can’t wait to share all of the final images of the space on the 18th!! If you are in Dallas, you must snag a ticket so that you get first dibs on all of the gorgeous pieces!

    I recently shared the BEFORE & AFTER of the wingback chairs. You can see more HERE.  I can’t thank Megan Adams enough for donating the fabric.  Today, I wanted to show off the transformation of the round back chairs that are being used in my vignette.

    IMG_1193

    BEFORE: They were a ratty yellow fabric, torn to shreds and in need of a major overhaul! But I loved their shape and knew that with a little love they could be come something chic.

    AFTER: We snagged this textural ivory linen fabric from the donation fabric pile in the Dwell With Dignity warehouse but the chairs were screaming for a little something extra! So when we had a little extra navy fabric left over from the sofa update, I knew it had to become the contrasting cording….

    Spring Color On DLiving {Before & After}

    Yesterday I stopped by the DLiving set to talk about bringing in vibrant accessories in your home for Spring. We talked about changing out or adding small rugs for added color and pattern, bringing in bold agates, bud vases and colorful lamps. I showed off the new Dhurrie rugs from The Rug Company, Tons of fabulous geodes, vases and frames from Mecox Dallas and chic textural containers and a bright yellow lamp from Arteriors Too.

    Then…the major spring before & after happened on set! I spent the rest of the show changing out pieces to on the set to step up the color factor! Take a look at the BEFORE & AFTER shots and be prepared for a major eye-candy overload…we are sharing our sources too!

    BEFORE: D TV launched in February of this year and we went with a sophisticated color palette that included a modern graphic rug, bold turquoise seating, art and gorgeous classic tables! You can find details on where to pick up these pieces HERE from our past blog post and HERE on the DHome Blog.

    AFTER:  After spotting this Sellarsbrook Yellow rug at The Rug Company Dallas showroom, I knew it would be the perfect jumping off point for creating a new look for spring.  The Sellarsbrook Blue and Birdie Blossom pillows tied in the spring them too and I love any excuse to change out pillows.

    And now to the accessories! I have to give a big THANK YOU to MECOX DALLAS for providing all of the colorful and glitzy accessories for the lounge area!  The handblown green and yellow glass knots are the perfect pieces to stack on books, I love how they visually fill a space without looking to chunky. They have a variety of sizes and colors to pick from too!

    And these large geode pieces mounted on acrylic bases with brass detailing are beyond amazing. I am seriously going bring a set of these home!  I love that Mecox carries pieces like this from local artists too. If the deep pink pieces are not going to work in your space, stop by and talk to the guys about selecting a color that you want, it’s pretty easy!  And while you are there, you HAVE TO check out the other trinket boxes, acrylic vases and trays all adorned with colorful geodes!!

    IMG_1166

    And last but not least, these colorful ikat bone inlay trays! They come in a ton of colors as well as multiple sizes. I used them for a pop of color stacked with books and alone on the coffee table to bring in a bit of color too.

    Wingback {Before & After}

    Dwell With Dignity’s next Thrift Studio is going to launch April 18, 2013 and I am so excited to be apart of it for the second time! The rules are the same as they were the first time I designed a vignette for their Thrift Studio. You must pull 50% of the items in the vignette from the Dwell With Dignity warehouse.  Of course when you have 6 designers pulling from one warehouse, it gets tricky! I just had to have a few plans ready to go and depending on what I was able to snag, that would be the direction for my vignette.

    BEFORE: I spotted these pitiful wingback chairs and knew that with an updated upholstery job, they would be perfect for my living room design! They were a light blue fabric and although they were tattered, the structure and frame was good.

    AFTER:  I am so in love with these wing backs! The lovely Megan Adams donated her Joker Ikat fabric in a light gray and JC’s Upholstery  donated the upholstery work on the pieces!  I am so excited to for you all to see the final look!

    Before & After {Fern Tree Dining}

    I am so excited to show off the progress in my client’s formal dining room.  The dining room is just off of the main sitting room as you walk in the front door and I am so happy that we decided to go bold with Kelly Wearstler’s Fern Tree wall paper from Schumacher!

    BEFORE:  My client’s had just moved into the house and knew that they were ready to update their existing furniture and lighting and create a fabulous formal dining space. Since the room is off the main kitchen and visible from the moment you walk into the house,  it was time to say good bye to all of the existing pieces and start over!

    DURING / ALMOST AFTER: I guess we can’t say this is a true before and after, but we are almost there! The Fern Tree wallpaper was installed last week and it looks GORGEOUS and commands your attention for sure! We are waiting on the stunning carved wood dining table and custom velvet dining chairs to arrive in a few weeks. And with a few more simple yet glitzy touches the formal dining will be absolutely stunning.  You can get a good feel for the direction of the room with this overall look image too.

Stay tuned, I can’t wait to share more details of each element as the room comes together!

    Before & After {Lash Maxx}

    I adore all things glam, glitzy and girly, and I love supporting my fellow entrepreneurs, so you could say that I’m doubly excited for today’s gorgeous Before and After at Lash Maxx. I was in heaven when the Lashionista Claria Nieves told me she had found the perfect space for her new office in Uptown. I was so happy to see her business growing, AND I knew this project would be all lavender fabulous.

    Here are a few photos of the new space before the transformation.

    BEFORE: This lobby had amazing potential but  needed some serious TLC. The beautiful exposed brick and floor to ceiling windows were a great start, but the space really needed to be softened up.

    Back Camera

    The AFTER photos are like night and day – literally. This space is bigger, brighter and feels so polished and refreshing.  Client’s are now welcomed with a cozy place to wait and they are able to move around a bit more. And you know I’m all over that chandelier, it completely makes the space!

    Lobby after

    BEFORE pictures of the gas fireplace. Not terrible, but it definitely needed some love to make it the focal point of the room. When you have an opportunity to create a focal point, you have to go for it. Since we were not able to completely update the fireplace, we did have quite a few options for making it stand out a bit more.

     Back Camera

    AFTER: When we originally designed this space, we fell in love with this wallpaper. We added some new linens and window treatments to soften the room and make everything feel cozier. The large scale pattern gives the illusion of a larger  ”accent” wall and of course the lavender and grey work with the overall color palette that we were after.

    Fireplace after

    Finally, we have the BEFORE image of the treatment room. Feels a little sterile, which isn’t terrible for a “treatment room,” I guess. But definitely not what we had in mind. It just didn’t feel like luxury and lacked the amount of storage that we needed for the space as well.

    Back Camera

    AFTER: Now this is more like it! This room is much more inviting with soft lighting, rich fabrics and storage that is more reminiscent of a bedroom than a doctor’s office. The unsightly doors are now tucked away behind the silk panels and we have added storage cabinets that frame the treatment bed and give us the storage we needed.  A few fabulous table lamps, porcelain peacocks and updated linens help to pull the overall look together.

    Before & After {Chic Boutique}

    I am still on a high over the recent feature on our latest chic boutique project in House of Fifty! Today I thought it would be fun to show off a few of the before and after images from the projects. I always love looking back on the progress of projects, remembering the challenges, exciting moments and of course the look on my client’s faces when the final look comes together.

    This old historic Church in downtown Celina, TX was the perfect location for the boutique and coffee/bar that my clients had planned. The upstairs portion of the building was being used as a residential loft when they purchased it, and although there were a few cool design elements, they were not going to work for the layout we needed.

    BEFORE:  This view of the gorgeous stained glass windows suspended in wall  screamed “main check out area”.  It was going to become one of our favorite focal points in the space and would be instantly seen as soon as you walked into the boutique.

     AFTER:  Now, the custom cash wrap desk provides the perfect amount of work space for the employees and the entire sales floor and main entrance can be see from the area. I love that it helps to ground the space and it really does make the stained glass windows pop!

    BEFORE: The main office was being used as the past owner’s master bedroom. the exposed brick wall are beyond amazing and made the perfect backdrop for the large scale art and lighting that we were going to add. The natural light was also a plus in the space!

    Up On The Ceiling

    We just couldn’t wait for the rest of the wallcovering to show up, so we got the gorgeous malachite wallpaper up on the ceiling! This powder bath is going to be sooo fabulous once the lavender grasscloth goes on the walls and the orange accents are added to the built-in cabinets! Keep an eye out, you know I’m going to share.

    BEFORE: Simple cappuccino colored walls looked great with the bold painting. But we just wanted to take this powder bath to the next level.

    AFTER: A little pop of malachite does a powder bath good! The room feels funky already, I can’t wait to see it finished.

    Changing Art

    Have I mentioned how much I love my job?  There is nothing better than seeing that big smile on a client’s face as things begin to come together in their home.  But, my own home is really becoming a drain. I am fortunate to have a husband that doesn’t mind me making changes every now and then…but it’s about to get crazy around here in 2013. I have plans…big plans for this place.

    Things are being ordered, custom designed and the waiting game begins. So, while I patiently wait for a few things to show up I have pulled the trigger on a few instant change.  Just last weekend I added a new piece of art over our sitting room sofa.  I have been working with Dallas artist Megan Adams to create a pillow offering and collection of art prints for Shop Ten 25…so stay tuned for that soon!  While we were selecting pieces, I spotted this gorgeous teal and fuchsia piece and loaded it up to see how it looked over the sofa.

    BEFORE:  Warmer tones and a soft texture graced the top of our sofa.

    Image Via: Melanie Johnson Photography for Studio Ten 25

    NOW: A lighter color palette with tons of texture. And Miss Ivy approves, I think that seals the deal. I love the change and how bright and cheery the room feels. I think it will be a great addition to the room and will look fabulous with all of the changes that will begin in a few months!

    Missoni {Before & After}

    Hello Y’all, today is a great day for a fabulous before & after!  My client and I shop together…lots…maybe too much? Nah! Well we snagged this gorgeous desk chair on one of our trips from Ceylon et Cie and couldn’t pass it up.  Although we LOVED the classic black and white flame stitch fabric, it wasn’t going to work with the palette we had going so off we went to find a fabric.

    We are currently converting an open loft space in my client’s master bedroom into her home office (can’t wait to share those changes).  The space is open and full of natural light so we thought a bold graphic with a bit of shimmer to capture the light was the way to go.  It was worth the wait for the Missoni fabric to show up at the Studio and trying to be patient as it was being reupholstered was another nail bitter.

    We now lovingly call her “the throne”! She is fabulous and is going to make the loft office come to life! What do you think?

    Here are a few shots of the details. I love how perfectly the pattern was lined up along all of the wavy edges of the chair. They guys over at Again & Again really rocked this one out!!!

    {Before & After} Painted Antlers

    Welcome back! I hope everyone enjoyed the long holiday weekend and that you were able to spend your time doing what you love.  We had no plans so the weekend nice and productive. I actually went over to a client’s and we tackled the last element in her huge living room cabinet.  If you follow me on twitter, facebook or instagram you may have seen a few sneak peeks of the styling in the cabinet. And we were beyond excited when Kelly Wearstler shared the pics with her pieces in them on her pinterest page HERE & HERE.

    Now, down to the before and after!  I loved the addition of the large Elk antlers in the cabinet, but after seeing what others have done with plain antlers using paint we had to try it!  Click Here to check out one of my favorites from Etsy using the smaller antlers.

    BEFORE: The antlers get a bit lost in the cabinet because the colors are so similar. Everything else was in place so we though brining in a bit of color and sparkle would be perfect to tie everything together.

    AFTER: We headed to the local craft store and picked up tons of acrylic paint options, glue and of course glitter!!!  We painted one of them with a bold pattern, one solid silver with matching tips, one silver with a turquoise ombre finish and one that is a copper and gold ombre.  Here are a few shots of each antler….

    And now for the over all AFTER look in the cabinet!!! I am loving the changes, the pops of color tie everything together and the best part…the project was a great way to relax and enjoy the afternoon!
