    Inspiration

When we pull a look together for a client, I think it’s very important to give them a feel for the space visually. We can show them pieces and tell them how great they will look together, but that isn’t always the best way to communicate the look. An inspiration board is the best way to show them the direction of each space, and of course I always include my favorite pieces! Here are a few fun spaces that we have been pulling together for a current project.  I’m in love with the bold regency chic look of the black, emerald green and brass..it’s going to be stunning!

    Around The Telly

Today, the television is usually front and center in my client’s homes.  Although most people think having the television as a focal point in the room isn’t attractive, it is just part of the way we live now. I’m also seeing more televisions in client’s master bedrooms and they aren’t skimpy either, they are BIG and definately noticeable when you walk into the room. Designing a room with a huge television can be a challenge, but there are ways to create a pretty area around the piece.  You know the saying “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.”  Here are a few of our project images showing off spaces in our client’s home where the television was either concealed or acknowledged.

THE SORORITY HOUSE / FORMAL SITTING ROOM: The challenge is always accessorizing the console or area around the television without distracting from the view. Since this Sorority’s formal sitting room is also used to host formal events, we needed a way to hide the televison in a chic way. We had a custom wall mounted cabinet made to fit the television. Mirrors doors open and fold back on each side to expose the television, we painted the cabinet the trim color in the room to keep it from standing out too much.

THE MAIN LIVING ROOM:  This living room was a bit more challenging , We needed a few low accessories for the console that wouldn’t obstruct the view of the television. We still needed a bit of height so these gorgeous blue vases did the trick without taking over too much. A simple stack of books and a short vase of flowers finish it off.

THE CASUAL TV ROOM: I loved working on this television cabinet. The front porch of this home already had a fabulous shutter wall so we through it would be nice to carry that design through to the TV room in our client’s home. We painted the cabinet the wall color so that visually the pieces would tie into the rest of the room. Shutter doors open and fold back on each side for television viewing.

THE FAMILY ROOM: I love the simplicity of this media console and television. The media console is beyond gorgeous so getting to fussy with accessories was just not going to work. We styled the console with basic pieces to tie in the brass finishes throughout the home!

THE MASTER BEDROOM: A big TV over the dresser in the master actually didn’t look so bad because they are both black and shiny. We dolled it up with bold & colorful accessories and a fun side chair to fill the empty corner. I love all of the height and textural elements along with the fun piece of framed art.

    One Piece Two Way {Monarch Fire}

I love finding a way to make a fabulous piece work with multiple looks. These days we all want our investment pieces to be versitile enough so that we can change out a few furniture pieces and accessories as we tire of them.  I love this silk Monarch Fire rug from the new Alexander McQueen Collection at The Rug Company.  The tonal reds make the for the “perfect red” color way and the kaleidascope butterfly pattern soften the bold color by adding a sophisticated yet whimsical feel.

Since red can be a color that takes over a room, I thought it would be fun to show off a few looks using furniture, art and accessories to help create a space around the piece.

    Fabulous By The Fire

I love this time of year, the smell of fall in the air always motivates me to bring in the firewood and prep the fireplace for the first fire of the year! Since we have a wood burning fireplace, it is important for use to have a fireplace screen to keep those wondering embers from finding their way onto our living room rug.  A decorative fireplace screen and even a great set of andirons can take your fires to a whole new level of glam…who says a fireplace shouldn’t be pretty too?  Here are a few of our favorites…I’m thinking those puppy dog andirons will have to come home with me!

    Wall Of Wood

I have been working on a fun new project and we are considering using wood slats on a few walls to really bring in the rustic glam feel that the client wants! I love how “wood paneling” is making a come back…no more of your 70′s and 80′s paneling! It brings in texture and instantly warms up a space and it will for sure help us rock the rustic calm look.

Here are a few of my favorite inspiration pics  that we have pulled for the projects. What do you think? Love it?

DFW Rescue Me is one of my favorite local non profit organization whose goal is to reduce the number of animals euthanized in Dallas. Their goal is possible by spaying / neutering, adoption programs and educating about responsible pet ownership. Each year 5-7 million animals enter shelters nationwide. 3-4 million of those are euthanized, simply because no one wants them.

    Going With Grasscloth

I’m super excited to finally have the opportunity to use a bold grasscloth wallpaper on not one, but two fabulous design projects.  I adore the texture and color that it brings to a room even though it can be subtle.  But, once it is up on the walls in a bold color, it steals the show!  This lovely lavender is about to make an appearance in a client’s powder bath and it will have a bold graphic friend on the ceiling….eeekkk! I can’t wait to see it.  I love this room.

I am also getting the change to bring a graphic grasscloth pattern into another project. This time,  it is going to be a focal wall and it is going to make the room! Phillip Jefferies has some of the most options when it comes to modern graphic patterns. I love this bold orange chain link pattern! I can’t wait to share the final selections!

    Feeling Fuchsia

Yesterday I was feeling fuchsia! I recently had a fabulous office space photographed that had tons of fuchsia accents and accessories (you can see more pics on my instagram account), I received a few new pillows for Shop Ten 25′s inventory and I busted out my fuchsia agate necklace to brighten up my outfit for the day.   And how precious are the girls hanging out in The Studio?!  They look adorable hanging out in front of my favorite watercolor pieces from The Summer Project!
