Going Big in Small Spaces

Contrary to popular belief, small spaces can really benefit from going bold! We tend to gravitate towards darker paint or wallpaper on the walls in powder baths, like this gems we designed earlier this year.

All Hail Leopard!

All hail leopard! We’ve gotta say. A space just isn’t complete without a touch of leopard. Don’t you agree? Here are a few of our favorites “spots” from our recent installations!

Around The Table Day 3 { Countdown To Thanksgiving}

We are continuing our countdown to Thanksgiving by celebrating a few of our favorite project dining spaces. Today I thought we would show off something bold, colorful and over the top. Our client has no fear of color or pattern and we love that about her. How fun would Thanksgiving be in this dining room?

Around The Table Again {Countdown To Thanksgiving}

We are continuing our countdown to Thanksgiving by celebrating a few of our favorite project dining spaces. Today, I thought we would show off a bit more formal dining space. Metallic linen chairs and crisp mod details create the perfect dining space to celebrate Thanksgiving with family. Modern details with classic fabrics, lighting and art helped us to create the WOW factor our client was after.

Around The Table {Countdown To Thanksgiving}

Where will you set the table this Thanksgiving? Will you be hosting, or traveling to spend time with family and friends?  This week, I will be sharing a few of our projects and featuring their lovely dining spaces. I love seeing where my clients entertain, the spaces range from formal to casual and today I wanted to start with one that is very unique.

This oversized marble island is the perfect place for family & friends to gather! Our client often works at the island, but it transitions to a great hang out space when she is entertaining friends too!

Wednesday Wants {Fabulous Rugs}

A great rug can tie a room together and lends itself to so many wonderful design elements for a room. It can establish a color palette, be the wow factor in the room or just tie a large open floorplan together.

This flatweave Dhurie from The Rug Company worked perfectly in our client’s open family space. We used the same rug in the living area and small dining space to create a cohesive feel. The warm grey rugs have a simple tribal pattern that give the room a bit of interest without taking over and looks soothing with the overall tonal grey color palette.

What We Are Working On

I love the design development phase of a project. Pulling fabrics and get the textures, patterns and colors to work together perfectly is the best way to wrap up a day around The Studio. Here is a little peek of a few rooms that we are scheming for right now.

This master closet is going to be so major!! We are going to take a guest bedroom that is next to the master bedroom and convert it to a lovely and fabulous closet and dressing room for her! Pink, sparkles, starbursts and floral velvets will be taking over and I can not wait to see this one come together.

And, this “dude” room is going to get a major overhaul from the lack luster situation that it is in now. Bold navy, suiting stripes and a little taxidermy will turn this “dude” room into a masculine man cave!

New Year {New Color}

Happy New Year! We are back in The Studio after a much needed break to celebrate the holiday season with our family and friends.  We thought we would start off the new year with Pantone’s color of the year, Marsala. Not our favorite, and it hasn’t been racking up the rave reviews around the design industry. It’s a muddy and muted version of burgundy in my opinion and it just looks flat. I am such a color lover and bold saturated colors like tangerine, emerald and turquoise (past winners) always catch my eye and inspire me to incorporate them when designing.

We pulled a few “Marsala” pieces to see if we could bring back the love for the 2015 color of the year, and here is what we came up with. Not too bad when you pull a few versions of the color together. I would say I am more drawn to the more saturated version of the color. What do you think?

Coffee Table Styling {Books, Bowls, Boxes & Trays}

Coffee tables are one of my favorite furniture pieces to style. I love that many of my clients request a large ottoman or unique table for their spaces. It makes the room more interesting and if the pieces function, even better. There is nothing worse than a pretty coffee table that doesn’t allow my client to “live” with it.

I wanted to share a few of my favorite styling pieces and tips for coffee table styling that I use in my projects.  In reality, coffee tables don’t always stay perfectly styled. But, if you have the right accessories they are easy to keep tidy and organized while still being stylish. Here are a few of my favorites!

-Books are always a given when I’m styling a coffee table. I love using books that my client already has or books that are about subjects and places that my client loves. It is an easy way to personalize the space and not just throw random books on the table. They are a great place to prop a fun accessory and always bring in a bit of color too.

-Bowls are another fun accessory to add to a coffee table. They can be great catch-all for items that can junk up a coffee table. They can be subtle, colorful or just a pretty piece to help pull the overall look together. I find that my bachelor clients are the biggest fans, they love having places to “keep” things!

-Boxes are another great addition to a coffee table. I tend to use them more on larger coffee tables because they really work with the scale and can also be great storage places for remotes and other knick knacks you don’t always want laying around. These days, decorative boxes come in so many shapes, sizes and finishes. My favorites are the lacquered boxes with agates on top!!

-Trays are the perfect piece to keep your coffee table organized! You can add a stack of books, small bowl and even your remotes on them to keep you coffee table from looking cluttered. They are great on small coffee tables where you still want to be stylish but don’t have a ton of room for accessories. A great tray can really tie the space together too!
