Unexpected Fort Smith
I have been in Fort Smith, Arkansas this week visiting family and preparing to say goodbye to my amazing Grandmother. I won’t get super sappy here, but loosing my Grandmother and my Father with in a short period of time has been tough. After she passed away earlier this week, I decided to go downtown to check out the Unexpected Fort Smith project that began last summer and continues to change the face of downtown Fort Smith.
“Since the opening of Crystal Bridges, we’ve really seen Arkansas become a destination for the arts, so what we wanted to do here in Fort Smith was to claim some of that space,” explains Claire Kolberg, who organized the Unexpected.
“We wanted to do something that was different, but also engaging and inspiring for the art community.””They’re internationally-renowned street artists, and they have many followers on social media. They are masters of their craft,” Kolberg says. “It really is a treat for Fort Smith to have these renowned artists in our community, sharing their talents.”
My Cousin Caitlin and her daughter, Sophie even made the local paper!
And while I am showing off my gorgeous family and their babies…her is my cousin Loren and her little nugget Corbin enjoying the pieces.
Here are a few of my favorite installations, but check out their website for all of the details.
