Man Crush Monday
Man Crush Monday is always one of my favorites. We mixed a custom walnut headboard and bits of faux fur along with our client’s favorite color, red for a cozy master suite. I love how my bachelor clients focus on function and ask for specific details like clean lines, warm wood elements and pillows that are not too fussy. This master came together easily once we had the custom walnut platform bed to build off of. I’m dishing on all of the masculine details below. All images: Melanie Johnson Photography
I love the vaulted ceiling, solid wood beams and barn doors mixed with the natural stone and venetian plaster on the walls and ceiling. Masculine details that are carefully mixed to create a cozy man cave became the priority when we began the design development for this room.
We selected classic linen to compliment all of the wood elements, natural stone and texture that we wanted to layer throughout the room. I love the bits of red that we used in in the space. Our client’s favorite color is red, and red can easily take over a space so we need to thoughtfully approach how we were going to incorporate the color. We used a sleek crocodile print for the king shame and bench cushion at the end of the bed to start, and then layered in the color with art and accessories.
A bit of texture softens the plaster walls, natural stone and wood accents. We used a super soft Alpaca Rug from The Rug Company to ground it all and threw in a faux fur through from Peacock Alley to pick up all of the rich wood tones around the room.
