Formal Dining {Before & After}
I love getting room updates from online clients, especially when they are rocking out the design we created for them. This formal dining room is an odd space because it opens to a “sitting room” and it was giving my client a challenge that she didn’t want to face alone. My advice to her…why fight it? I thought we should work with it and make the most of the space going forward. This room is the perfect example of knowing your room’s limitations and making them work for you instead of letting them take over.
BEFORE:She has a great dining table and chairs to work with, so that allows us to bring in a few pieces to splurge on and take this bland space to the next level. Since it is the first room you see as you walk into the front of the home, it needs to have the fun yet sophisticated vibe that the rest of her homes has.
AFTER: Well, this is really the during phase of the room. There are still a few tweaks to be made, but for the most part this room is done! The drapery panels soften up the windows and bring in some much needed color and pattern in the room. A new chic dining buffet styled with tall lamps and a round mirror help to balance out the long space while creating storage and a place to serve food when entertaining. Deep teal accent chairs provide a nice place to gather before or after dinner and balance out the weight of the dark dining table across the room. I can’t wait to see it complete!
