Decorist {Living Room Reveal}
Working with Decorist has been a wonderful addition to The Studio this past year. I love being able to see so many client’s transform their spaces with the online design program. This past Spring, Decorist paired me with fashion and lifestyle blogger Jackie from Little J Style. Jackie and her husband needed a little help pulling their living room together, but were struggling to find a happy medium when selecting the finishing pieces for the room.
So Jackie did what anyone is this position would do, she turned to Decorist to help find a solution and take the stress of creating a room they would both love.
I love how simple and easy the design process is with Decorist. We started with two unique look and concept boards for the room. Jackie and her husband loved the tone on tone neutral look with black and white elements. Here is the concept board that they loved the most. It gives them a bit of inspiration as well as modern and minimal pieces that will pull the look together.
Next, we create the overall look board for them. This gives them the best visual inspiration using pieces that we pulled specifically for the scale of the room as well as the style. I love how this board completely captures the vibe that they are wanting for the room.
The most important element in the design package is the floor plan. We show them how to place pieces in the space and give them tips and instructions for implementing them properly. What I love most about the floor plan, is that it gives them an opportunity to mix things up at this point. Jackie mentioned adding a side chair in the corner across from the sofa. It was going to be a tight fit, and they would be limited to smaller scale pieces. The floor plan shows her just how snug that corner would be if she choose to add extra seating there.
BEFORE: A great blank slate along with a few things that we don’t love 100% , like the vertical blinds. But, this is when we get creative and gave Jackie options to make them blend into the space instead of taking over.
AFTER: Clean and modern. The white cotton drapes create a softer look on the wall and filter the natural light perfectly. We also had to make sure we found drapery rod brackets that would extend over the mount of the vertical blinds. It’s the little details like the right extension on a drapery rod bracket that will make installation day a happy one!
How gorgeous is this!!! Soft neutral pillows in a graphic pattern and fluffy texture, black and white framed art and pops of brass have give them a room that feels modern, sophisticated and comfortable to hang out in.
