Accessorizing

I love bold accessories and the impact they have on a space. Starting with the basics when designing a space is key because it allows you to layer bold and bright accessories to complete the look. It is important to give my clients pieces that they can live with for quite some time, that way they can change out accessories and mix things up when season change or if they get board with what they have.

An easy way to mix up the look in your space without spending a ton of money is to switch out pillows, side table & coffee table accessories and even move your art around. Sounds like a big undertaking, but if you like to change things up from Spring/Summer to Winter/Fall it can be worth the effort.

This bold living room is the perfect place to entertain friends and and the perfect place to cozy up on the sofa and watch TV. The accents transition easily between seasons with the addition of a few warm throw blankets.  Images: Melanie Johnson Photo

Same goes for this living room. The spa like feel transitions between seasons easily by changing out a few pillows and adding a throw blanket to warm up the seating. The color palette doesn’t have to completely change, but adding pillows in a textural Mongolian fur & velvet in the same tones will create a cozy space for chilly days.    Images: Melanie Johnson Photo
