The Sunburst Mirror, always in style

I’m still obsessed with the shape and glamour of a starburst mirror. I also love the fact that is has become so mainstream that affordable retailers have continued to offer them.  As a designer, I have access to trade only products so I thought that I would share a few of them along with my favorite styles from stylish retailers.

But first, here are a few of my favorite pics.

Zgallerie, Crate & Barrel, Target and Walmart are just a few of the places you can snag a starburst mirror at a great price.  The offerings range in finishes from driftwood to gold and silver. If you looking for a specific color, try looking at TJMaxx or Homegoods for a deal so you can repaint it to match your decor!

Whoo Hoo, I scored this fabulous wood sunburst mirror at my local TJMaxx Homegoods for $59!!!

Here is an affordable option from Wally World

    A great snag from Target.com

    Master bedroom update

When my husband and I moved into our first house together the overwhelming hodgepodge of furniture drove me crazy!  Over the past year I have managed to consolidate our furniture, add new pieces and successfully make a few things disappear.  My biggest challenge was the budget…as it always is. My husband isn’t a fan of purchasing overpriced pieces that he knows I will want to replace in a few years! He’s right, so with a little help from Ikea, West Elm and a few other favorites I was able to keep the splurges to a minimum!

Yesterday I posted the updates to our master bathroom room so today, I am going to show off our new master bedroom.

BEFORE:  All of the furniture pieces matched and everything felt dark. After we had the wood floors refinished and updated to a warmer tone, we addressed the wall color and everything begin to fall into place. We had great lamps, a bench that was in needed to be recovered and and the basic furniture pieces.

AFTER: We used Sherwin Williams Rain Washed to match the bathroom and used that as a starting point for the rest of the fabrics and furnishings in the room. I had the headboard recovered in a cream linen with nickel nail heads for a masculine touch.  The fresh white drapes from Ikea were simple and $19.99 a pair!  The new bedding (West Elm Organic Pin-Tuck Duvet)  and accent pillows (Anthropologie) in fun patterns keep the overall look from being too “girly”.  I had our bench recovered in Duralee’s Medallion pattern in Henna and threw in two pillows to match on the bed. The Devon starburst mirror from Zgallerie was a great way to add the high end look at an affordable price.

I am IN LOVE with our new prints from Sugarboo Designs. The Brown Dog and White Dog prints are the handy work of artist Rebecca Puig!  I love the way they bring in a bit of color and remind me of our puppies!

I have always wanted a place to curl up and read or just sit down to put on my shoes in the morning.  The West Elm Sweep Armchair was on sale and I loved it so much…I added them to our living room too.

I couldn’t finish our room with out at least one piece of something from Kelly Wearstler. Her Imperial Trellis fabric has become a staple in the design industry and looks fabulous with the brown Mongolian shag pillow from Pillows and Throws.

I snagged this lamps at a local lighting store on clearance three years ago.  I had mirrors cut to fit the top our our night stands, the light really bounces around the dark corners of the room now! It was an inexpensive way to update the look of the night stands for on $30 each. I did however splurge a bit on the crystal knobs for each drawer, since I only need four of them it wasn’t so bad.

My husband is obsessed with “catch all” places in our home. He has multiple trays and containers around the house where he drops his keys, wallet and other random things he collects in his pockets. This luggage stand is the perfect place for him to drop his ball cap, tie or golf shoes when he runs in and out of the house.  I recovered the top of the stand in the same apple green velvet left over from our shams.

And of course no photo shoot in the Fenimore house would be complete with out our two girls! I have to admit….Ivy (left) and Caddo (right) do love their cuddle time in our bed!
