    A Few Of My Favorites

Since we are talking yellow this week and showing lots of love to the happy color, I wanted to share a few Studio Ten 25 Projects. I have always loved yellow but finding the right time and place to bring it into a client’s space has always been on their terms. Most of my clients are very specific on the colors, textures and overall look they want for their home , and they helps to make my job easy. So when yellow is on the list, it really brings a smile to my face.

This office space was designed for Dwell With Dignity’s first ever Thrift Studio. At the time, was working on a client’s home where were going with yellow accents.  I was inspired by the color and wanted to take it to the next level with this project. I think the flamestitch chair was my absolute favorite piece in the vignette!

I was SUPER excited when Cottages & Bungalows wanted to feature this master bedroom last fall! I loved the custom yellow and ivory graphic patterned headboard that we had made using fabric from Kravet. The warm yellow touches really did help to create a sophisticated yet chic master for my clients!

And then there was this open loft space! I loved that we were able to bring in the yellow Greek Key rug and use the bold yellow lamps in the master bedroom. The living room also received a few pops of yellow.  We kept the overall feel neutral but the yellow accents really do shine in this space.  You can see more HERE.

    Happy Dwellings

Well…fabulous dwellings is more like it. I have been talking about the latest Dwell With Dignity Thrift Studio pop up shop launch and wanted to share a few pics from the opening night! This time…it was over the top and in a wonderful way. Dwell always manages to snag great spaces for the Thrift Studio, and it helps they they are old showrooms.  The vignettes were just stunning and I loved seeing the attention to detail that each designer gave to their space.  And of course I love seeing all of my favorite designers and bloggers, it’s great to catch up with everyone!

I am a sucker for pink…well…salmon in this case. Laura Lee Clarke rocked out this global glam look with a fabulous chandelier centered over the seating area. And who doesn’t love a ceiling flooded with paper lanterns???

I also loved the masculine and colorful space from John Phifer Marrs! The hand painted zig zag rug was the focal point but I had my eye on the vintage lithograph zodiac pieces…too bad I didn’t snag them in time!!!

Graphic wallpaper, mirrored accents bold color and fabulous lighting!!! YES PLEASE!!!
And how cute is this? Wisteria was giving away free puppies…well their boozehound puppy made from wine bottle labels. It was tough, but I had to pass. I have a mess on my hands at home already!

    Countdown To Thrift Studio

Dwell with Dignity’s Fall Thrift Studio opens this Thursday. Join me and the rest of the host committee at the Preview Party this Thursday, October 11 at the Dallas Design Center (1100 Slocum Street, Ste. 280) from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. You’re all invited to be the first to check out the store’s new inventory and support Dwell with Dignity’s mission to create soothing, inspiring homes for families struggling with homelessness and poverty. Purchase tickets ($125) here.

The Thrift Studio is a cool concept. The biannual pop-up shop is open for 30 days only (October 11 to November 10) and sells donated overstock, gently used furniture, housewares, accessories, and high-end designer finds. A “dream team” of designers takes over and creates stylish vignettes for shoppers to enjoy. The proceeds benefit Dwell with Dignity. We can’t wait to see what Cynthia Collins, Breckinridge Taylor, John Phifer Marrs, Laura Lee Clark, Lisa Luby Ryan, Stella Dallas, and Peacock Alley have put together for this fall. Here are a few sneak peeks from the Thrift Studio, keep checking Dwell With Dignity’s Facebook page for more details on the vignettes!

    Thrift Studio Is Back!

I support a non-profit organization here in Dallas called Dwell with Dignity.  Dwell with Dignity is a non-profit made up of Interior Designers and volunteers dedicated to creating soothing, inspiring homes for families struggling with homelessness and poverty.  They provide and install home interiors for families enrolled in programs geared to get them from homelessness to self-sufficiency.  The home interiors they provide include furnishings and art, bedding and kitchen supplies, and food in the pantry.  They believe that if you can change a person’s environment you change their outlook on life.

Dwell with Dignity’s mission is to help families escape poverty and homelessness through design. One household at a time.  In order to keep working toward their mission Dwell with Dignity has a fundraiser twice a year called Thrift Studio.  Thrift Studio is a not-like-any-other-thrift-store THRIFT STORE that is open for 30 days only.

I was honored to be asked to design a vignette for the very first Thrift Studio and loving seeing how the event gets bigger and better each year!  You can see more detail on the black & yellow office space I designed HERE.

    A New Home

I have been a huge fan of DWELL WITH DIGNITY since they opened their doors a few years ago. I have been involved on a few levels with the Dallas non-proffit organization for the past few years and and constantly amazed with how fast they are growing. There are so many great organizations that need help from donors and volunteers that it’s like watching that depressing SPCA Sarah McLachlan Commercial!  But, DWD has become special to me because it was started by interior designers and I love what they do!

And, since donations are a big part of DWD and how they provide their families with fabulous design…I love seeing it full circle! My husband had a small leather sofa that just didn’t fit in our home once we moved into our first house. So, we decided to let Dwell With Dignity work their magic and use it for an upcoming project.  I teared up when I received a thank you card in the mail from the with a picture of the sofa on the front!  It looks fabulous in it’s new home and I couldn’t be happier that someone can now love it as much as my husband did!!! You can see more details of the project HERE.

    Dreaming in Tangerine

This past Saturday, The Dallas Morning News featured a few of their favorite tangerine home accessories and accent pieces from local designers and shop owners. I was happy to see that a few pieces from Shop Ten 25 made the cut! Shop Ten 25′s Arabesque Rug and Good Vibration art print are in the round up along with that gorgeous Mottega lamp!

The Arabesque Rug has been one of our favorites and we love the how the blog graphic and mix of orange and tangerine instantly brighten up any room.  I love how the rug lends itself easily to a room that is masculine and can even compliment a feminine feel as well.

    The Bloggers Circle

I am on my way home from The Design Bloggers Conference in L.A. and have so much to share!  The event was full of inspirational speakers like and an overall theme of be original, be true to yourself and you’ll stand out. Dallas’ Dwell With Dignity was able to share their story and announce that they are excited about expanding into other cities.  In order for them to grow, they need to continue to have the support with volunteers and of course donations.
