Maybe its because I’m married to avid outdoorsman who spends most of his free time hunting, fishing and playing golf…but I love the modern interpretation of taxidermy.
Art, accessories, real or fake: this trend is surprisingly versatile. I’ve featured antlers on pillows, in holiday decorations and even painted them for display in bookcases. We’ve displayed (cruelty-free) trophies, like deer and horse heads, in frames for an amazing rustic-chic combo. I have even created a “Cowboys and Antlers” board on Pinterest! One of my favorite projects even has a deer head mounted in the middle of a gorgeous framed mirror (which just so happens to work great for jewelry storage). And since deer shed their antlers annually (called sheds), it naturally makes finding them and displaying them around the house quilt free!
Long story short, I am loving this trend and hope to see more of it in 2013!
