The first day of Fall officially arrived last week on September 22nd. I hardly noticed because it’s still so hot here in Texas!! So much for all those super cute Fall clothes I pulled out from storage. I guess they’ll have to wait just a little bit longer. In the meantime, I’ve been thinking about cozying up the house as well with a few Fall staples such as chunky knit throws and plush pillows. Here are a few pieces from the shop that I would love to scatter around my own house. It this weather keeps up, I may just have to crank up the AC and burrow under a warm blanket with a hot cup of cider! (just kidding… sort of)
1. Teal Mongolian Fur Pillow 2. Bargello Pillow 3. Navy Zig Zag Throw 4. Charcoal Mongolian Fur Pillow 5. Grey Cable Knit Throw
Yesterday I was feeling fuchsia! I recently had a fabulous office space photographed that had tons of fuchsia accents and accessories (you can see more pics on my instagram account), I received a few new pillows for Shop Ten 25′s inventory and I busted out my fuchsia agate necklace to brighten up my outfit for the day. And how precious are the girls hanging out in The Studio?! They look adorable hanging out in front of my favorite watercolor pieces from The Summer Project!
I spent yesterday morning at the Dallas Peacock Alley showroom setting up my dream bed! They asked four local designers and bloggers to come into the showroom and create our dream bed using the fabulous pieces from Peacock Alley’s collection. Along with Suzan Davidson, Joslyn Taylor from DHome / DMoms and Tonia from Chic Modern Vintage the dream beds were taking over the showroom!
Joslyn posted a sneak peak of her bed on the DHome blog yesterday and shared a little bit about her inspiration! So, today I thought I would do the same thing, I see nothing wrong with a little girl crush! I was going for a girly and chic bed that felt sophisticated. Between my husband and our two puppy dogs, there is no way that velvet, silk and pale linen bedding would survive the Fenimore house. So I thought I would go over the top with the chic and throw in a few fun graphics and of course the textural mix of pillows that I would love to have at home!
I ended up creating three looks with the bedding. An over the top look complete with mongolian fur, pops of velvet and metallic touches along with a more structured feminine look and of course a more toned down version that my husband just might agree with! The video and images from everyone’s shoot are in the making so keep an eye out for them on the blog in a few weeks.
Until then…I will leave you with a little teaser from my shoot!
Sleek, simple, and yet still inviting… that’s what I love about this space! The clean-lined silhouettes draw on the classics and the muted blue tones feel fresh and modern. I boiled down the basics of what you need to achieve a similar look for yourself and you can find my suggestions in the links below.
So, what do you think of this look? Would you GET IT?
1. Round Driftwood Mirror 2. Knox Table Lamp 3. Platner Coffee Table 4. Carrie Sofa
Working from home may sound like it’s all that but believe me, it has it’s challenges!! Which is why it’s important to treat your home office space professionally and give it a good dose of design treatment. This will make you so excited to begin work each day… promise!
Here are a couple looks from the shop that I’m currently loving. One eclectic and colorful, the other monochromatic and sophisticated. Which would you choose?
1. Gold Leafed X-Base Desk 2. Chippendale Arm Chair 3. Peacock Tray 4. Lucite/Lacquer Turquoise Storage Box 5. Beveled Black Glass Desk 6. Chelsea Striped Boxes 7. Barbara Barry Silver Framed Tray 8. Green Jester Chair

Today’s post is a bit out of the ordinary. I thought it would be fun to give you some behind-the-scenes tips from my desk as a business owner and independent interior designer. One of my sponsors for the blog is Take Credit Cards
, which is a payment processing service and tool that I use regularly for my interior design business. For those of you out there that also own small businesses and are looking for a similar tool, here are a few things about this company that you should know.

First of all, a good 90% of what you do as a designer has to be about business. This is an incredibly important lesson that I’ve learned along the way since opening Studio Ten 25 back in 2007. Don’t get me wrong, I still have plenty of fun selecting fabrics, drawing floor plans, and shopping with clients, but at the end of the day you still have to manage it all! Creating invoices, taking payments, giving payments, managing purchase orders, and on and on and on. My daily schedule is also such that I don’t get to spend a lot of time in my office. You’re more likely to find me on the run and in the design district than at home and in front of my computer. It’s for this very reason that I chose to use Take Credit Cards’ “Phone Swipe” device. It plugs into your smartphone or tablet and takes payments on the go… just my style!

Clients can feel safe and at ease knowing that their information is completely secure and encrypted. If that cute little iPhone or iPad gets snagged, no one’s information is leaked. That’s HUGE!! This feature was especially important for me during the Chi Omega Market last Fall. I set-up a booth for the event and had a surprising number of people shop my booth throughout the course of the market. So many people coming and going. But everything went smoothly and all payments were made easily thanks to Take Credit Cards! Hurray!!
Oh, and did I mention that it’s a flat rate fee? Major plus!
Over the past few months I have been sharing bits and pieces of this boutique project and today we are finally going to photograph the finished project! It has been a blast to work with the owner to design the interiors of this gorgeous building! The Turquoise Firefly boutique and the Turquoise Firefly downstairs coffee bar are getting the royal treatment today and we are going to put on all of the finishing touches! Follow me on Twitter or Instagram for inside details from the shoot today!
It’s been another exciting week over here at the Shop and Studio. I’ve been so busy buzzing around with client meetings, installations, and sale announcements, that I almost missed telling you about Mari Robeson‘s beautiful home collection which is now available on Shop Ten 25. Well, now’s the time to shout it far and wide!! This gal is more than just a designer… she’s an illustrator, textile designer, color enthusiast, and product developer extraordinaire. Her charming watercolor illustrations have cheerfully welcomed Shop Ten 25 customers on our front webpage for the past several weeks and now her colorful products can be purchased online as well. For today’s post, I’ve collected a few of my favorites from Mari and mixed them in with other shop pieces that I’m currently loving.
