Weekend Window {America The Beautiful}

Can you believe it’s almost July??!!! I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to crack open a cold drink, start-up the grill, and sit back and relax while watching some gorgeous fireworks. It won’t be long before I’m actually doing that! The 4th of July is right around the corner and in celebration of such a significant day for all American friends, I thought I would share a collection of patriotically colored pretties that hit the mark on style while missing the target on cheesy. Today’s post is an example of how to achieve that look. Hope you enjoy your Summer holiday!

There were pink cupcakes, champagne and of course tons of gorgeous pieces for your home and wardrobe.  Kristin (from Paper Doll Style) and I had a wonderful time showing off the two stores and I hope we are able to do this again soon.  Here are a few pics from the two locations!

A Summer Soirée

I have been posting details this past week on Facebook about  the Calypso St. Barth Summer Soiree that I am hosting with Dallas wardrobe stylist Kristin Skilling of Paper Doll Style. The invitations are beyond fabulous and I hope lots of your Dallas guys and gals will be able to stop by.  Since summer is a popular time for family vacations we thought it would be fun to talk about how to keep you home and wardrobe fun through these busy and HOT summer months.

Weekend Window {Sticks & Stones}

News Flash: Apparently twigs, geodes, and tree branches are really hot in product design right now. I’m seeing this stuff everywhere!! In fact, I was even surprised to discover just how many stick and stone themed pieces are in the shop right now that I hadn’t even realized. It’s time to bring the outdoors in… literally!

Loving Arabesque

After yesterday’s post on a recent Home Away From Home project update, I received quite a few questions about the creme and grey Arabesque rug in the photos.  Most of you wanted to know about the quality of the rug. The quality is top notch, soft texture and simplistic details within the pattern too.  And of course you wanted to know how to get your hands on this gorgeous piece! Well,  we carry it as well as it’s fabulous coral counterpart at Shop Ten 25.

I have used the Coral Arabesque rug in a Studio Ten 25 home office project and it was stunning! Here are a few of my favorite Coral Arabesque installations…

The grey and creme version is the latest addition to the collection and it’s tone one tone grey graphic is classic, chic and works well in so many types of rooms…I’m so happy that my client decided to wait for this beauty to come in from it’s crazy long backorder!

Home Away From Home Progress

I rarely ever receive updates and images from our Home Away From Home clients.  So, imagine my surprise when I received a few stunning progress images from a recent HAH client.  She is super adorable and lives with her boyfriend and precious puppy!  I think the a best way to tell you what her before was like…is to just show you!

BEFORE:  A basic space in serious need of pattern, color and overall welcoming feeling that will make entertaining fun!

We talked about bringing in draperies to soften the windows, a softer and larger scale rug and new furniture pieces.  She started by updating the paint, lighting and replacing the sofa.  I CAN NOT wait to see the finished look soon!

AFTER: I mean…it’s just fabulous! I am so happy with the choices she has made and once her dining and kitchen are updated, I will share them too!!

Dallas Design Style

I received an email last week from a contributor at HOUZZ asking me about Dallas design style.

She wanted to know:

  1. Something that makes a design distinctly Dallas
  2. A trend that is on the rise in Dallas
  3. A misconception about design in Dallas

I had to laugh because all I could think of is what everyone outside of Texas thinks our houses look like in Dallas.  It’s like any other city really, you have your regional influences and wonderful mix of design aesthetics.  I promise…what you see on those Dallas based reality shows is not reality. It’s made for T.V. and they can give those who watch a bad impression at times. So here is what I had to say….

“Dallas is known for having the over-the-top design aesthetic. Lots of ‘bling’ and unfortunately, most people think Dallas design can be gaudy,” says Abbe Fenimore of Studio Ten 25. “I think many people would be surprised to know that Dallas also has a fabulous side that can be fresh, well styled and approachable. With design-forward publications like DHomeand Modern Luxury, there is something for everyone here in Dallas.”

What do you think Dallas design is like? I would love to know what people think the Dallas design style is!

The Willow Lamp

While on our mini-vacay in San Francisco last week I spotted a GORGEOUS chandelier while shopping at the Fresh store. I had to ask where it came from and of course take a few pictures!  I can’t believe the fabulous people in the store pulled out the “design binder” and made copies of the spec sheet for me! Um, YES please!!  So today, I wanted to share my latest find, obsession and love of gorgeous lighting!

Here are a few more details of the “flower of life” pieces that was in the store…

Not only does this stunner come in the everyday standard ball chain with the stainless steel laser cut “flowers”,  it also comes in red!!  The series can be found on Amaridian’s website and let me warn you…this site is super addicting. Full of gorgeous sculptures, woven pieces and of course the Willowlamp collection!!  Here are a few of my favorite pieces from the collection, to see more take a look at the Willowlamp Site. I love the variation of colors sizes too…I’m officially obsessed.

My Dad

Happy Father’s Day to all of the dads out there, especially to my dad! This is one of my favorite pictures of us, we were laughing about a few things from the past. Good Stuff!

Weekend Window {Tangerine Of The Year}

It seems crazy to me that I haven’t featured a tangerine Weekend Window post yet. Especially considering it was named the  2012 COLOR OF THE YEAR by Pantone! But better late than never, right? Today’s look into some of the shop’s orange offerings just makes me smile. This vivacious hue is the perfect accent for Summer months but could easily transition all year round! Think of all the orange-y possibilities… Peach for Spring, Mandarin for Summer, Pumpkin for Fall, and Fire for Winter. Those folks at Pantone sure are clever!
