    Red Is Love

The big install is wrapping up with the exception of a few details, and of course the dreaded punch list.  Since my client’s favorite color is red, I thought I would share my absolute favorite piece of red in his space. These Eames Lounge Chairs are always stunning in the standard leather, but I had to push for this red mohair on the chairs. I’m so happy he had faith in me.  Sticking with the standard classic look was appealing, but this space can handle the red…and I’m in love!

Unfortunately the living room is packed full, so the matching ottomans found a new home in the master bedroom. They look fabulous with the cowhide wallcovering too!

    Lighting it up

Day two of my client’s new home installation was a great one! We had wallcovering going up, furniture being delivered, beds being made and lighting being hardwired…whew, I am exhausted.  There is nothing better than seeing a space come together and watching all of the sub-contractors work around all of the chaos. I am loving the masculine feel that the leathers, suedes and chains are bringing to this bachelor pad. The bike chain chandeliers from Carolina Fontoura and have been on my wish list since I blogged about them this past summer. I am finally getting the chance to use them in a project and couldn’t wait to share the pics of them from today.  Carolina uses old bike chains, rims and gears to create the pieces and brings her extreme creativity to each one of them. We had four pieces made for the client’s new home.

First, the custom sized semi-flush mount piece for the entry.  When you walk into the space, the chandelier commands your attention and the way the light bounces out of the fixture is just gorgeous. Looking up into the fixture is my favorite view, you can see all of the 9 gear shifts that house each of the light bulbs too.

The other custom pieces now hang above the black walnut dining table.  These three pendant fixtures were also made in a custom size to fit the scale of the dining table. I can’t wait to see them glowing at night with the view of uptown Dallas in the background!

I think the “bike chain chandeliers” have been everyone’s favorite in the space so far!  The vertical striped cow hide wallcovering is also at the top of the list! Tomorrow we will be back in the space to see the custom headboard, dining table and master console.  I promise to snag more shots so keep an eye out for the new additions to the space on Friday.

    The Accent Wall

A few weeks ago I blogged about an accent wall for of The Studio’s latest projects and I am dying to share the progress. This week is the installation for all of the furniture, rugs and accessories so I will do my best to share via Facebook and The Blog so keep an eye out for TONS of fabulous project details.

I shared details of the custom Edelman Leather cow hide wallcovering HERE, well if finally showed up on the job site late last week and seeing the huge piece being installed on the wall made my day. I just sat on the floor in the room and couldn’t stop smiling!  Here is the inspiration board for the home, red will be the primary accent color with touches of turquoise and fawn!

The pattern was installed vertically. I had it stapled to the wall so that it could be easily removed down the road if my client wanted to use it as a rug or if he ever moved.

The installer even made a custom trim piece from the suede wallcovering from Bart Halpern to conceal the staples, the detailing is just gorgeous. Looking forward to sharing more on the project this week!

The latest issue of The House of Fifty launched yesterday and Shop Ten 25 had a few pieces featured!  Guest rooms are often forgotten and the last place that most people apply their design dollars.  I have tried to create a “boutique hotel” feel in our guest room and hope our guests feel relaxed and comfortable.  I love how HOF gives great tips on how to bring luxury and comfort and style to your guest room.  Take a better look at the layout online and check out all of Shop Ten 25′s featured pieces below.
