This past fall was super busy around The Studio. I have had a handful of projects hit the finish line, and that means photo shoot time! Most of them are in the final stages of editing and I can’t wait to share and add them to my portfolio! Today I thought I would share a few pics from a master bedroom on one of the projects. This room screams “man cave” and I am obsessed with the custom black walnut headboard! Soaring ceilings with wood beams, stone for days, plaster walls and tons of great texture make this master the perfect get away for my bachelor client!
With a few pieces of fabulous art, we were able to bring in color, movement and texture that bring that extra something to the room. Since my client’s favorite color is red, we used touches of the color with the art and accent pillows. I didn’t want the red to take over so used modern fabrics like the red croc pattern on the king shams and for the bench at the end of the bed. And what bed doesn’t look perfect with a luxurious fluffy throw blanket? I LOVE this Bella Throw from Peacock Alley, it keeps the room on the masculine side while still adding a soft touch! And while we are talking soft and fluffy…how about that gorgeous Alpaca Rug from The Rug Company? My client loved it so much, we used it in the bar area and in another bedroom!

Today I wanted to share a wonderful bit of inspiration from the Huffington Posts’ life & style site, Stylelist. I am thrilled that they choose to include one of our master bathroom projects in the slideshow. The slideshow features our spa like master bathroom and mentions that adding a chandelier is one simple way to create an overall luxurious and comfortable atmosphere in your bath! See more inspirational images HERE. Want to see more details on the before and after from the featured bathroom? You can find them HERE.

We have been in the final stages of a design project the past few weeks and I wanted to share a sneak peek. We have been busy accessorizing and trying to get this last layer of the design process complete. The clients popped in while we were setting things up and it was fun to see their faces as things were placed. I love the turquoise and orange accents throughout, they really brighten up the home. Here are a few of my favorite spaces, I usually have a favorite room but this time I can’t decide. Do you have a favorite?

The big install is wrapping up with the exception of a few details, and of course the dreaded punch list. Since my client’s favorite color is red, I thought I would share my absolute favorite piece of red in his space. These Eames Lounge Chairs are always stunning in the standard leather, but I had to push for this red mohair on the chairs. I’m so happy he had faith in me. Sticking with the standard classic look was appealing, but this space can handle the red…and I’m in love!

Unfortunately the living room is packed full, so the matching ottomans found a new home in the master bedroom. They look fabulous with the cowhide wallcovering too!

Day two of my client’s new home installation was a great one! We had wallcovering going up, furniture being delivered, beds being made and lighting being hardwired…whew, I am exhausted. There is nothing better than seeing a space come together and watching all of the sub-contractors work around all of the chaos. I am loving the masculine feel that the leathers, suedes and chains are bringing to this bachelor pad. The bike chain chandeliers from Carolina Fontoura and have been on my wish list since I blogged about them this past summer. I am finally getting the chance to use them in a project and couldn’t wait to share the pics of them from today. Carolina uses old bike chains, rims and gears to create the pieces and brings her extreme creativity to each one of them. We had four pieces made for the client’s new home.
First, the custom sized semi-flush mount piece for the entry. When you walk into the space, the chandelier commands your attention and the way the light bounces out of the fixture is just gorgeous. Looking up into the fixture is my favorite view, you can see all of the 9 gear shifts that house each of the light bulbs too.

The other custom pieces now hang above the black walnut dining table. These three pendant fixtures were also made in a custom size to fit the scale of the dining table. I can’t wait to see them glowing at night with the view of uptown Dallas in the background!

I think the “bike chain chandeliers” have been everyone’s favorite in the space so far! The vertical striped cow hide wallcovering is also at the top of the list! Tomorrow we will be back in the space to see the custom headboard, dining table and master console. I promise to snag more shots so keep an eye out for the new additions to the space on Friday.

A few weeks ago I blogged about an accent wall for of The Studio’s latest projects and I am dying to share the progress. This week is the installation for all of the furniture, rugs and accessories so I will do my best to share via Facebook and The Blog so keep an eye out for TONS of fabulous project details.
I shared details of the custom Edelman Leather cow hide wallcovering HERE, well if finally showed up on the job site late last week and seeing the huge piece being installed on the wall made my day. I just sat on the floor in the room and couldn’t stop smiling! Here is the inspiration board for the home, red will be the primary accent color with touches of turquoise and fawn!

The pattern was installed vertically. I had it stapled to the wall so that it could be easily removed down the road if my client wanted to use it as a rug or if he ever moved.

The installer even made a custom trim piece from the suede wallcovering from Bart Halpern to conceal the staples, the detailing is just gorgeous. Looking forward to sharing more on the project this week!

Last week I put the final touches on a lounge area for a client. The area serves as a lounge space for tenants and sits just outside of the loft’s wine room and theatre room. Since the space will be used by the tenants and their guests, we were up against a few challenges. My client wanted to space to be durable and affordable (super tight budget) without compromising on style.
BEFORE: The existing furniture had seen better days, the torn fabric and flat accent pillows made that quite obvious. Other than that, the space had a whole lotta nothing going on. Everything could go but my client wanted to keep the large maple and glass coffee table. I love the vinyl image on the wall and doors that enter the theatre. The teal, orange and mix of neutral colors made it the perfect jumping off point.

Take a look at the idea board we started with, almost exact to what we ended up using in the room.

AFTER: I love the way the space looks now. It feels inviting and is finally the pulled together lounge area that my client was after. A seriously budget priced sofa, fabulous West Elm Sweep Armchairs and simple x-benches create a seating area that is great for socializing and moving around.

The first thing we added was the brown and ivory Geo indoor/outdoor rug. The acrylic blend will hold up to the spills that are going to happen and is durable enough for the heavy foot traffic. The acoustics are 100% better in the room now and the rug grounds the seating area together with a much needed graphic.

The x-benches were a snag from a big box store but came with a crummy vinyl seat. I stopped by one of my favorite fabric warehouses and purchased this heavy teal upholstery weight fabric for added durability. I used a Turquoise Graphic and Orange Moroccan linen pillows to tie in the accent colors and to keep the graphic pattern going. What do you think?

I love sharing before and after images of projects. This one has been on my favorites list since the day we confirmed the design elements. When I shared this room in “mastering the master”, I was ready to bring the chic!

So today I thought I would share the before and the after images from the bedroom. Melanie Johnson recently shot the space and is currently editing the images from the room! I can’t not wait to share.
BEFORE: Heavy drapes and the color of the bedding are a bit muddy. The most surprising thing to me was that this room was not a reflection of my bubbly and beautiful client. With three boys, these two are always running in multiple directions so they needed a bedroom that gave them a place to get away from it all.

AFTER: A chic and refined look! We kept the wall color, dresser and the accent chair in the corner. Although I loved the iron bed, it wasn’t the right look for the direction we decided to take. Graphic fabric (Clarke & Clarke), a touch of yellow and beautiful accessories made this room pop.
