Tomorrow is the big day for Dallas’ latest furniture showroom opening! Adriana Hoyos is the latest addition to the Dallas Design District and tomorrow they finally open their doors.  I have been working with their showroom manager, Baron Farah on the new DTV set and have fallen in love with their pieces…and Baron isn’t so bad either! Boys knows his stuff and is a blast to work with!

Don’t let their location in the Design District run you off, they are also open to the public!  I love that they even have an in stock and ready to ship program so if you are looking for a killer sofa, dining table or something new for your bedroom you can snag it now! Although they call their pieces “high end”, their prices are affordable and their finish options are GORGEOUS!!!! I have my eye on a few pieces…

As a furniture designer, Adriana Hoyos has created collections inspired by her native Latin America –dark and vibrant –colored woods, earthy tones and exotic materials- along with an international taste for elegance and simplicity of clean lines. The cornerstone of her inspiration is this melding of global textures and arts. Hoyos’ work has caught the attention of the international press and has been featured in media such as Architectural Digest, Florida Design, Interior Design, Ocean Drive, Hola Decoracion, CNN Espanol and numerous periodicals in the US, Latin America and Europe.

Hospitality design has become a specialty delivering interiors for international hoteliers such as TRUMP, Starwood, Swissotel, Marriott and Hilton.

The Grafito chair is one of my favorite pieces and makes the perfect lounge chair! I love how the design on the back incorporates the Adriana Hoyos logo too…so sleek and a little sneaky!

We used the Coco rectangular coffee table in Mink, two of the Chocolate end tables in Champagne and the Carmelo Console table in Mink on The DTV set.  We love the pieces so much that we went back for the Cafe Sofa in a white lacquer to use in the opening for D The Broadcast!

Making it to the end of a project and seeing it all come together is one of the best feelings to me. We recently photographed one of the latest Studio projects and I couldn’t wait to share the details.  My client has a fabulous collection of Chinese Art Deco Rugs. The rugs are a mix of vibrant colors, and traditional motifs, and completely bold. They command your attention as well as a need for bold color and fabulous accessories!  So we brought simplistic basics with all of the furniture and tied it all together with the pillows, lighting and little details around the house. Can’t wait to share this one!

I am ecstatic to finally share a few photos from my latest project! I’ve never created a set for a TV show before, so designing the new set of D Living and D: The Broadcast brought on a lot of new, unexpected challenges for me.  I was glued to the TV yesterday morning to see the two new shows launch and of course to check in on the set that has been a major part of my new year!

I wanted the set’s Living Space to feel cozy and contemporary. But more importantly, I wanted it to have the “D” look that their readers have grown to love and expect.  One of my favorite elements is this custom modular sofa from JC’s Upholstery Dallas, we spend many hours pulling the details together and I am in LOVE with it!  The Amli Lemon and Key Aqua pillows from The Rug Company add some fun color and texture and I love that they are a bit oversized too.  We got the perfect coffee table and side tables from Adriana Hoyos and I can’t wait for the new showroom to open in The Dallas Design District this month!  The stunning silk artwork from Dallas artist Megan Adams Brooks adds a sophisticated burst of color (P.S. her prints and pillows are now available at Shop Ten 25).

The area between the Living Space and Kitchen needed some love, so we installed a great accent wall from Total Design & Mfg Dallas.  And you know no room is complete without a gorgeous rug, so we brought in the Catella rug from The Rug Market  to pull it all together.

We also created a Talk Table area for the hosts. I know this is my first Talk Table and all, but I think this table from Adriana Hoyos looks fantastic in this space. The ladies look fabulous in front of the new downtown Dallas backdrop, I love the big red “D” logo too! And you know I had to throw in a few antlers, this time they are painted a silver metallic and were the perfect finishing touch to dress the coffee table.

This sleek, ultra-modern kitchen from Poggenpohl Dallas looks great, and we added some finishing touches to make it feel more lived in (and a little less sterile). Now local chefs have a place to whip up a yummy meal and show us all of their inside tricks!

D The Broadcast  airs at 9 a.m.  and D Living at 10am weekdays on KTXD/Channel 47, which is also on U-Verse, DirecTV, and Dish Channel 47; Time Warner Channel 24; Verizon Channel 18 and Charter Channel 22. You can watch the show on KTXD’s website and take a look at the opening HERE…the ladies look gorgeous and so does that fabulous Adriana Hoyos sofa!!!  You can also see Tim Rogers review of the first show HERE…make sure you pay close attention to the part where he says “the sets looked great, especially the kitchen.”  I may not have gotten a shout out, but I am on cloud nine to see that the set is getting great reviews!!!

I know I throw the term Rustic Glam around quite a bit. Maybe it’s because I have a serious outdoorsman for a husband and it’s my way of finding a middle ground, especially since I tend to lean towards the girly glam side of things.

A true rustic interior tends to be a bit too “lodge-y” for me but I do love the textural furniture, dark, earthy colors, exposed beams and a mounded deer head in small doses. A rustic look can be cozy and clean, but it can go junky cabin in no time. When I say rustic glam, I am refering to a  subtle, sophisticated yet still cozy interior that appeals to the outdoor lover as well as a self professed glamour girl. I can totally appreciate the outdoor touches, but I’m just not willing to go “cabin in a box” if you know what I mean.

I thought it would be fun to share a few key points that will help you bring in the rustic look while still keeping your love of modern, classic or traditional in check. Here are  a few ways to bring in the rustic glam!

Brining in wood elements is the most obvious way to add a few rustic touches to your room.  I love all of the glitzy interpretations of birch, driftwood and Aspen trees out there today. The look can be a fabulous “wood” look or you can always pull the trigger on a real driftwood table or console.

Solid Linen or a fun “rustic” print fabric are a few of my favorite ways to bring in the rustic glam look. Simple solid linens and nubby cottons area great basics but what about adding a fun yet sophisticated antler print?  If upholstering your existing or new pieces in a bold pattern isn’t your thing, try bringing in a print with your draperies or accent pillows.  I love this Antler  fabric from  Eric Cohler for Lee Jofa is one of my favorites!!  You can go simple by using it as an accent pillow or bold with drapes!

A little walk in the woods or a touch of faux bois never hurt anyone…or any room!  My husband gave me a HUGE high five after I had the accent wall of our dining room done in Cole & Sons Woods Wallpaper.  It is a sophisticated rustic glam look that keeps the dining room from being too formal. It is one of the first rooms you see when you walk into our home, I love the impact it makes.

We also used Phillip Jeffries GORGEOUS  metallic woods grasscloth boutique dressing room. We were going for a rustic glam look and it was the perfect way to go a little rustic without being too masculine . You can see more of this gorgeous boutique in the latest issue of House of Fifty.

This faux bois rug looks great in this large open entry space. Rugs are a great way to bring in texture and pattern without being to theme-y.  I love how this rug is casual but still works with the more sophisticated antique pieces and architecture of the home.

Bringing in touches of fur or hide  is one of my favorite ways to go rustic glam. There are tons of faux and real options out there to choose from as well as pieces that can go more girly if you don’t want your room to feel like a dude ranch. One of my latest faux fur obsessions is from Peacock Alley, I adore the Lucca and Bella pieces that they have!

The Lucca is a softer blend of chocolate and taupe  while the Bella has a bit more depth and texture.  I love how they toned down the girly glam bed that I styled for Peacock Alley’s Designer challenge.

We also used the Bella throw in a super masculine and rustic master bedroom project.  Again, the texture was perfect and really did warm up the space. It looks great with the custom Walnut bed and red accents that my client wanted.

And for the hide lovers, there are also tons of options out there. A cowhide rug, upholstered stool or throw pillows are easy ways to bring in the rustic element without going over board.   The metallic hides are some of my favorites and a perfect rustic glam mix.  You can find a few fun options HERE and HERE.

And I saved the best for last, cowhide pillows. I am a sucker for a fabulous and these graphic cowhide gems are from the hide master himself, Kyle Bunting!

One of my favorite vacation spots is the  snow covered mountains in Colorado. I’m not a huge fan of skiing (I’m actually horrible at it) or being cold;  but I love the simplicity of the small towns, watching the snow fall and of course the gorgeous interiors. I try to grab a few of the local real estate and design magazines and bring them back to the hotel.  I love poring over them and taking in all of the rustic details, wide open windows and of course seeing the views that each home boasts.  Views sell in the mountains for sure and I love seeing how they bring the outside in to many of the stunning homes.

We were not able to visit the Colorado mountains this winter, but we definitely going to plan a trip to visit this summer!  Here are a few of my favorite Colorado spaces. I personally prefer more of the modern rustic feel with updated appliances and sleek lines while still staying true to the mountain environment!  So for now, my stacks of magazines will have to wait until we can check this one off the bucket list!  Here are a few of my favorite inspiration images. Who knows, maybe someday soon we can put them to use!

I am so excited to finally get ahold of the latest edition of House of Fifty! One of our latest design projects from Studio Ten 25 is being featured and wow, what a fabulous write up!  Over the past few year we have been working on a gorgeous boutique just outside of Dallas. It is owned by a husband and wife team that decided to make their dream of owning a clothing boutique (for her) and a coffee bar by day / bar by night (for him) a reality.

Maybe I am pining for springtime a little more than usual, but I am totally taken with yellow interiors right now! I’ve always loved the color yellow, and I especially love it for interiors. It’s a versatile enough that it transitions easily from wallcoverings and art to pillows and accessories. It’s a color that refuses to go unnoticed, which makes it perfect for eye-catching accents. Here are some of my favorite yellow interiors! (Disclaimer: We’re not responsible for any cravings for lemonade, lemon meringue pie, custard, bananas or a sunny, tropical vacation.)

 I love how the yellow accent on the walls bursts forward in this room full of neutrals; it totally pulls the room together. And the mixture of traditional and contemporary pieces fantastic.

This room is so fun, it makes me a little giddy. I love how they combined the yellow chair with the yellow chandelier. Your eye almost struggles to decide which piece it wants to look at. This also draws attention to the cool wall art. And the little yellow accent on the zebra print chairs is like cherry on top.

So chic, right?! I love how this color combination enhances the vintage vibe in this room. From the yellow console and window treatments to the brass furniture and marigolds, everything is working together to create a luxurious, retro space.

Talk about “wow factor”. These Murano glass lighting fixtures definitely add some opulence, while the yellow cushions make the entire space feel a little more casual and approachable. And look how it pops in this room full of blue. Gorgeous!

Remember when we said that yellow is one of those colors that refuses to be ignored in any shade? Yeah.. try not to eyeball that banana cream ottoman. And it looks like that cool wall art is in on it, too – notice how that dominant yellow shape is totally pointing. Yeah, they are totally in cahoots.

I’m pretty excited to see one of my favorite projects featured in the January 2013 issue of Cottages & Bungalows! Bold color, gorgeous graphic fabrics and a chic factor through the roof!!!  Want to see more project details? Head over to The House of Turquoise Blog too.

Since the blog has been filled with gift guides over the past few weeks, I thought it would be fun to show off a few project updates. This past week a client’s T.V. room was about 90% installed and let me tell you…IT IS BOLD, BRIGHT and I LOVE IT!!! It is so fun when a client throws their hands up and says “let’s just go for it”. And go for it we did!  Forgive the iPhone pics, but I don’t want to give too much away just yet!

I’m a huge fan of mixing pattern, color and textures and this room has been the perfect place to bring all of those design elements in. We painted the room and installed one of Kravet’s Perfect Plains in a teal linen for the drapes.  Pillows are always a great way to bring in color and pattern, so of course we used Martyn Lawrence Bullard’s Adras Ikat from Schumacher. I love that her puppy dog, Boscoe decide to pose in front of them too!

I think my favorite part of the room has to be the addition of the Paul Smith Swirl Rug from The Rug Company! The bold pattern and color really made a huge impact on the new pieces in the room…and I think it is a keeper!

Yesterday I spent the morning watching this gorgeous Timothy Oulton Gyro Chandelier being installed in a client’s home.  The kitchen island was the last piece to be put in place before the fixture could be installed.  I am in LOVE with this piece and the impact it has made in the space.  Just a few more details to put into place, I can’t wait to see this gorgeous home pulled together!

We knew we wanted to hang the fixture in a fun way. It needed that perfect balance of industrial and glam, so we decided to bring in a wooden pulley piece with a super thick rope that would hook directly to a huge boat chain draping across the ceiling beams.  Such a great way to visually make the high ceilings relate to the rest of the lower living space.
